Post To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

My husband and I are building a refugium for my 72 gal. DT. This has been a fun project, and I was just curious how many of you have a fuge and what do you think of it? I'd also like to know how you have it set up (pics are a plus!)

I will post a new thread when the fuge is finished with a detailed photo chronicle for you DIYers.

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

You cant go wrong with having a fuge.. I call it a refrigerator for the tank.. Grow macro algae for food and the pods will flourish as well to feed the tank livestock.

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

I have mixed feelings about them They are a great filration & breeding ground for good bugs etc.. However I have had on crash & what it did to the tank was not pretty.

I want one too----for all the reasons that have been mentioned. However my boss had a bad experience and I know I will never have that sanctuary.

Oh well, I already have more than I deserve.

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

100% Fuge.
Absolutely wonderful addition to any tank IMO. I can get Frank to describe how ours is set up and how the one is planned for the new tank. Meanwhile I think they are fabulous!!!!!!!!

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

I just added one and so far it's a love hate thing. I put new lights on at the same time. I started growing cyano and all the cheato died. Go figure. I guess I gotta work the love into it.

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

I currently have a 52 g refugium and I love it! I love it so much that I'm in the process of turning the 52g into a 235 g sump/refugium.

Re: To Fuge or Not to Fuge?

Wow, this is pretty interesting! You fuge lovers should post pics of your set up!!

My newly built fuge leaks so I have to remove the sealant and redo it today. I can't wait to show everyone! It's exciting.
