Which skimmer design do you use?

Still in the planning stage of my reef aquarium and was wondering which skimmer design is the most popular.

Re: Which skimmer design do you use?

O.k. I'm going to display my skimmer stupidity. (feel free to point and laugh)
What are the differences and how would I know what kind I have?
I have a prizm skimmer with the rubber flywheel inside the pump.
Comense with the laughing and pointing.....now. lol

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

correct...but mesh wheel was not a poll option

IMO a beckett will outperform a mesh wheel...unfortunately it does so at a much higher energy cost.

It has a venturi on the intake of teh pump, but a needlewheel in the pump that givs the skimmer it's mojo and makes the bubbles tiny.

I hate that I agree with this. I've been a huge fan of euroreef skimmers since I purchased my first one. but after seeing MRC skimmers at work, I really think if you are looking at flat out skimming performance they are the way to go, but lots of noise, big pumps and lots of space. My buddy purchased a Deltec when they started getting popular on RC, and I really didn't see any improvement in skimmate from the deltec over the MRC.

I'm just a fan of the simplicity of a single needlewheel pump and adjustable riser pipe or gate valve. Easy as you can get
