Smile Re: What should be done with Bristle Worms

I've released my little friend back into the tank due to a fair amount of support as to their beneficial nature. I suppose if he or any of his comrads become and issue in the future I'll just trap them again. Thanks for your input everyone.

Re: What should be done with Bristle Worms

I have a bunch of them in my 12g pod, they don't seem to harm anything and are always out at night cleaning up.

Re: What should be done with Bristle Worms

Most bristleworms are reef safe, detritus eaters that should be included as part of your clean up crew. They can grow to unbelievable sizes and still get along with other tank inhabitants. That being said they sometimes outgrow their owners tolerability. If you've ever mistakingly grabbed one you know exactly what I'm talkin about, it's like having hundreds of small metal slivers in your finger. $.02

I have had the pleasure of being kissed by one of these devils and it was not pleasant. They can stay if I don't see them or if they are little. The little guy that got me hurt I can not imagine what a big sucker would feel like, OUCH!

Re: What should be done with Bristle Worms

I don't care for the look of them but i don't pull them either. Since i added sand to my tank i'm starting to see them. Before with the bare bottom i guess they lived in the rock. I'll have to see what happens over time but for now they stay.
