| Star Polyps | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod Hey i am not familiar with the aquapod or the boicube but i know that the jbj nanocube comes in a deluxe version that has a higher wattage of light which seems to me like you would be able to keep higher light requiring corals but if the other ones are open top you may want to go with that and get yourself a jbj hqi viper light that can hang on top and give you even more oppurtunity for what you add. That is what i know hope i can help good luck |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod The Aquapod comes with an attached hood, but it can be removed. (I removed mine anyway.) I believe nanotuners sells mh lights that you can add. Since I am unfamiliar with the others and run my Aquapod in a very strange way (It sits next to and shares water/filtration with my 125) unfortunately I cannot help with your descision.

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod My daughter has an aquapod and i don't like it. It gets to hot,(84f!) the filter chamber dose'nt do what its soposed too and the lighting sux. I see a future DIY project with it.

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod Im going to rip the top off mine like LYNN did and convert the back filtration area into a skimmer overflow. Then ill plumb it to a sump under it and add a bunch of stuff like a skimmer and a mini chiller. Pendant over the top, then i should beable to let my kid have it back ![]()

| Reef Lobster | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod As you can see, just because a tank is small, it doesn't mean you will not have any problems. Unless I had something very specific in mind, for a tank in the 12 14 gal range, my option would be for none of the above, and get something of a reasonable size. It need not be some giant 500 gal, or even 100, but it should be something large enough where, more or less standard, aquarium equipment would easily work. My personal choice for a small tank would be in the 30-50 gal range. Small enough so it's easy to work, big enough so I have some stable water, big enough to keep a few things in. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod Sounds like you are doing a lot more than I did Frankie. I just lifted the lid and set it on the canopy. Then replaced the filtration (except some filter floss in the 1st compartment) with lines going into and out of the reef. So basically they both share the skimmer, sump, fuge, chiller etc. All very low tech since we really had no idea what we were doing. The next tank I will somehow do it right but again I want it plumbed into the main system.

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod I like that you have it plumbed into the main system LYNN. When you have time could you post a picture of how you did that? Yes, I don't like store bought tanks and systems to be honest. I alway end up drilling it, riping things off and doing a complete remodel. I thought i could just buy this nano this time for my kid to learn on but....... I need her to learn it right ![]()

| Acropora ![]() | Re: nanocube, biocube or aquapod Hard to vote on this one. I have the BC29 and love it but Ive mod'ed it to death. From what little I know of the smaller ones the BC14 has the least lighting options. I guess its all gonna depend on what you want to keep and your price point. I will say the more water the better....
