Refugium flow rates

Wanted to know the norm here..
in general, about what is the flow rate through the fuge?

my flow rate is fast.. just my setup... around 3000gph... but my fuge is 100gallons..

Mine will be between 500 to 600gph a slow flow is better for the fuge I'm putting over 3000gph thru the closed loop

I run mine at about 600 gph, but it is a 75 gallon fuge also.

180 gallon Reef, 3- 250 XM 15K MH Electronic ballast, 380 watts VHO Actinics, 2- 5 watt LED Moon lights, 100 gal rubbermaid sump, 75 gallon Fuge, ETSS 600 Skimmer, 4700-5400 gph pump for return, Octopus 3000 controller, Iwaki 40 RL skimmer pump, 2- 65w PC 10K fuge lights, 2 55 gallon barrels, Custom light oak stand and hood, misc pumps, extra 600 gallon rated tank size protein skimmer.
Purple tang, yellow tang, pacific blue tang, 2 green chromis, 1 Sand sifting star, snails, hermit crabs, 2 mated perculas, pulsing Xenia, Anenome, mushrooms, ricordia, zoanthids, kenya tree 1 1/2" tall, misc other hitchhiker stuff.
DIY is my dream... ...well OK the only way I can afford this Addiction!!
Just as the light goes on in my head... ... I break the bulb!!

I am around 1000 gph. Its all flowing up through the crushed coral though. I was looking for a good fast flow in mine.

mine is around 500-600gph which is also 1-5 times turnover rate. but i voted 500-1000.

I voted 1-5 times turnover.
It is best not to have a very high turnover thru your sump if you have an insump skimmer, that way it can do its job better

The flow rate will depend on the macro-algae your using for nutrient export. Some require strong flow for good health and growth like Gracilaria & Chaetomorpha.
