Re: Time for new lamps - 400w Single Ended

I didn't like the XM bulbs they have very high PAR and severely damaged my corals,,,you really need to take your time to allow your corals to adjust to these bulbs especially with 400 watters. I have the aquaconnect 14k but my next bulb will be reeflux 10k.

For a time XM bulbs were running yellow, like 65k type yellow. I had to have mine's replaced and this wasn't an isolated issue. From what SueT mentioned they started making them I believe in China and the quality went down. I believe the problem has been corrected but I'm not going back to them anytime soon since I do like a little blue.

That's where I bought mine. I contacted XM and they were giving me the runaround until I mentioned I was a member of several reefing boards and others were having similar problems...I had a new bulb in a couple of days

We need to get them as a sponsor. Somebody get them to do a search for their name on the forum and we just might get them.
They seem to have good prices and their customer service is great with really fast shipping. I placed an order late yesterday and when I checked my email last night it was already shipped. Knowing about the guarantee makes me like them even better.

We had gotten a batch of those also! Called the company and got new bulbs.
Second set was better.

Re: Time for new lamps - 400w Single Ended

The corals can adjust but it will take time and you'll have to drastically reduce the photoperiod IMHO.

Re: Time for new lamps - 400w Single Ended

I would cut the photoperiod in half and wait at least a couple of weeks to see how your corals react, if well then slowly increase it.
