Re: How much have you spent?

I keep my personal books on Quicken - so I just pulled up a report to see how much I have coded to the aquarium. (Set up, live stock, water, food, replacement bulbs, etc...)

Since we started in January 2003: $7,045.19

But in many ways it has been among the best investments in our quality of life we've made. Great return on investment, I'd say.

Getting ready to spend some more money here.
Skimmer pump needs replacing.
See, it just never ends, that's why I don't keep track of what we spend! LOL

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

My estimate spending is > $10 000. Look at the equipment list and you will know.

Re: How much have you spent?

Maybe you should limit it to how much we have spent this year...

Lots and lots: A lot of the equipment is not currently being used, too small, wrong thing, broken...

I can remember exactly: plumbing project $300+ without pumps. Electric project $300+

Fish $400+ LR $400+ tank $1000 Skimmer 1 $300, skimmer 2 $350, powerheads $100ish, return pump $300ish, heaters $125ish, temp controller, ro unit. TOOOO much to think about, Brain is shutting down now.

Recent fish, coral, snail, and crab additions: $400

Need new lights, Kalk reactor, more flow... Ouch just think of the money yet to spend.

You may as well be talking about how much we have PAID in TAXES!!!

Re: How much have you spent?

Wow! What you setting up JHNRB?
I thought I was bad but that would really hurt.
Of course I tend to $100 or more myself into brokeness. LOL. I don't think I make it a single weekend withough spending at least that on something at the lfs. Even if I am just there for mysis or something cheap somehow before I leave the store it all just magically adds up. Last week alone was about $400 between various things we needed for the qt tank for the new tangs. (Mostly on lr.)

Re: How much have you spent?

I justify spending on the tank easily. One night out on the town = $150 and all you get from that is a few memories and a bad headache I choose to spend my party $ on my reef.... a lot more to show for it but I still get the occassional head ache... LOL~
