Which brand of SALT do you use??? - Page 15

I did my own silly little experiment since there is a Petco near by me. I used the natural sea water ($9.99 per 5 gal) they sell for about 2 mths. Previous to that I had been using Kent mix. I still had the same problem keeping the calc down & the alk up with the NSW as I did with Kent. My corals look lots better but I think that is due to the new mh lighting, not the NSW. I picked up some Tropic Marin. A little more expensive than Kent but a whole lot cheaper than NSW. Anyway, the NSW isn't worth the expense.

Be sure to get the Tropic Marin Pro Reef. It is a completely different salt than the regular Tropic Marin. The Pro Reef is more expensive but IMO worth it.

Well if Lynn uses it, then I get I have to try it. Otherwise, when will she ever get that Bluespot and when would I get my ponies! I haven't seen the Tropic Marin Pro Reef at the lfs, they probably just keep it someplace else, so I'll look around this weekend. I've got to start staying out of those places though!

I switched to TM Pro just recently because of all the good things I have heard. With Oceanic I was getting high Ca and low Alk. Hopefully with the new salt these parameters will be better.

I started out using IO but the magnesium seems low and the alkalinity seems high so I'm going to try switching to reef crystals and see if it's better

I use tropic marin thats what my lfs said was the best when i set my tank up.i dunno if it is but that what i stuck with

I started out using Oceanic.. After I started doing research I found out about Tropic Marin Pro.. I've been using it since then and eveyrthing looks so much better..

My LFS brings in sea water, the only problem Is It sits around 1.026 to 1.030.

I used Oceanic for a while but eventually switched because I found it very unbalanced, very high Mag/Cal and very low levels of alkalinity.
