Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

They are a saltwater version of minnows. There are different sizes to choose from... there are the silver, skinny tiny ones that are about 1-2" long; or the medium sized ones that are fat and usually about 3" long. I choose to buy the large fat ones since my anemone is so large.

One thing for sure... they all STINK!!

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

When I first got my Sebae it was bleeched white. After it settled in I feed every day until it refused food, then left it for about 3 weeks then did it again. I am now on a once a month schedule with it. The anemone is now the size of a plate and it's color has returned to the natural brown with neon green body and purple tips it's supposed to have and my clowns love it.

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

I feed my BTA's maybe once every couple of months some shrimp or scallop. Since I added MH I stopped feeding my Anemones weekly because this led to several splits and I didn't want Anemones wandering throughout a tank full of Corals. When I had my Sebae Anemone in my old tank I would feed it a couple of times a week since my lighting wasn't what I would consider sufficient at the time.

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

Well I feed my LT anemone like once a day.. Not on purpose.. But I feed my fish in the middle of my tank and anything they don't get falls right into him.. Plus my percula is always bring fun things to him! But I never directly feed the anemone...

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

No reason other than I don't think my 2-3 feedings a month for my 16"+ diameter anemone are not enough. I will be more diligent at feeding it atleast once weekly

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

hey guys, so i tried feeding a krill to my bta, and he just wouldnt take it. I tried wiggling it with my hand like u said and he started to close in on it but then he would either let it go or the clown fish would push it out. I guess that was still to big too. Well today i'll try to cut one in half and try again.

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

IMHO it was either too big (which you obviously thought of) or it's not hungry. I know my clown brings all sorts of food to his host anemone. Even stealing it from other anemones.
A bit confused were you trying Krill or Silversides? The krill I get is pretty tiny while the silversides I cut up into pieces for mine. If silversides I cut one into 4 of 5 pieces but each anemone may get more than one depending on the size of the anemone (some of mine are only the size of a half-dollar so they just get one piece) .
Peace

Re: Anemone Feeding Schedule?

Try a different type of food. Keep the clown fish away from it if necessary until the anemone can consume the meal.
