| Scopas Tang | Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. I have seen the tanks that have a wet/dry filter on the back of the tank and I was wondering how many people have those and if they like them better than the reef ready w/sump tanks.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. I have a RR with a sump. The sump serves to increase the water volume, provide a refugium, and is a perfect place to hide equipment like heaters, skimmers, carbon, phosphate media, micron filters, etc. Ohhh... I also use it to store chocolate chip star fish (which are not reef safe) for feeding my harlequin shrimps.

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. I think Little Luey ment the Tenecor tank with the filter built into the rear. I have seen them set up and running for over a year at my lfs in NY and thought they work well. Though like Woodstock i prefer the sump setup for the reasons she mentioned. |

| Tubeworm | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. My main display is a reef ready with overflow and sump. My frag tank used to have wet dry built in, but is used strictly for an overflow at this point. Marshal

| Scopas Tang | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. Yes, I was refering to the Tenecor tanks. I am day dreaming about getting one of those but I like to see which is best.

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. IMO the RR is much better ! Your going to be limited in space to make any adjustments or add any equipment in particular the skimmer.

| Dragon Moderator ![]() | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. OK my option isn't on this poll! I have a HOB overflow on my tank to bring the water to the sump. It's not a reef ready tank, it isn't drilled and I don't have a wet/dry, but I do have a sump.

| Scopas Tang | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. You know, Barcochris told me the same thing, I did not think about this other option. Shame on me. But thanks for sharing.

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Reef ready vs wet dry on back of tank. The tanks with the built-in wet-dry's that I've seen usually had a much lower GPH of flow than Reef Ready tanks offer. They may work fine for their particular filtration system, but generally, for reef tanks, we aim for a much higher flow thru our filter/equipment sumps, and even drilling the tank to feed a sump under the tank doesn't improve things, because the built-in overflow isn't made to support higher flows...
