Engagement .. .Need your help :)

hey everyone!

So..
May 7th i am proposing my my girlfriend of 5 years, we have been talking about it alot over the last couple of years about how it would be nice to have our house.. kids.. just good old general talk.. Talking about us being us 50 years from now

So i have decided that the 7th will be the day!

So what im looking for is this, She has pointed out a couple of different ring styles she likes over the last year or so.. So i know what im getting here.. But i really want to have it Engraved.. and im stumped on what it will say.. i was hoping to have the date.. and some sort of Eye watering comment..

Somthing like ( May 7 2005, Our begining ) Or somthing .. I suck at poetry!

You really need to pick out something that comes from your heart. You don't need to be a poet to say what you feel!
Read through some books of poetry and see if there is anything that really stands out. Then come up with your own words.

It obviously can't be a whole paragraph. You need to fit it on a ring. Make it simple and straight to the point.

You can do this!

Well, She wants it! .. And we have talked about marriage, and agreed that we will be married " One day " So she konws its comming one day.. just not sure when

So an escription on a engagement ring is good ?

I can't really give you something to engrave, but something straight from your heart would do just fine, like Gina had said.

It should come from you, and you could take little ideas from here and there and put them all together.

But what do I know? I'm a teenager who has had little experience with women. lol

But overall...Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's great to hear, and thanks for including all of us here at RS!

Well i picked out the ring today..

Don't know much about this kind of stuff.. But its a 18Karrot gold ( White ) with a 5 diamon setting.. the main diamond is 36point? and then it has 2 diamonds on each side that are 12 points each.. again not sure what all this means.. total of 84 points he said all the diamonds come just short of a full Karot.. ?

When i pick it up friday , As the ring i wanted i did not like the diamond in it so i picked out a new diamond so that has to be set, the ring needs to be sized right and then the engravement.. There was not alot of room so i kept it simple.. "Here Begins, Our new lives" He needs to check to see if it will acutally fit!

O.K., as for explanations of the jewelry stuff. Stones are measured in Karats. It is a unit of weight, consisting of 100 points (percents) That 36 point stone is 36% of a karat, so the total diamond weight is 60 points, or .60 karats. NOT BAD! Gold is also measured in Karat weight. Pure gold is considered to be 24 karat, or 24 parts out of 24 are gold. 18K is 18/24ths pure gold, and 14Kis 14/24ths pure. 18 is considered HIGH QUALITY. It sounds like you "done good" . I'm not going to attempt to give recommendations for the engraving. Not my forte.
Congrats on the impending disaster...I mean wedding. Hopefully, it will be long lasting and full of happiness.

Tooloud, i am an assistant manager for sterling incorperated. aka goodman jewlers, kay jewelers, osterman jewelers.. ect ect.. first and formost, it is not the size of the diamond which counts. the meaning behind it is much more important. i congradulate you on your decision and wish you and your future wife all the best.

now as far as the engraving goes what would you like it to say? what is your heart telling you. if you want something short and sweet how about just the date

i agree on the size not being the main thing! .. But the one thing i was happy with was i spent 30 mins looking at the diamond i picked out and it was really really Clear! I mean i could not see any color with in it at all.. and Very "Sparkly" i hope thats good
