Household Heating and Cooling

So, here I am in a house (I just bought a little over a month ago) and the Heat Pump goes out. We still have heat, but its expensive heat since we are using the emergency heat (electric, not gas) as regular heat.

So, I gotten two quotes and both are extremely different.

First quote, just sort of 3k for a Pane (Bryant/Comfortaire make them and then slap a Pane sticker on it) Compressor (outside) and a Bryant Air mover inside.

Second quote, about 6k for Trane Compressor (outside) and a Variable Speed AIr mover inside.

Since I dumped just about every penny I had to get us out of the condo an into a house, but are pretty outrageous.

Does anyone have opinions/experience on these brand names?
