RO/DI Question

Have a question, but before I ask, please read below. THanks

You asked:

I have purchased one of these from you about a year ago and since moved and left it for the new owners of the house. I am looking at possibly purchasing another one for the new house."

It is a 1/2 truth...it is pure and wants to become "impure" again (like us)...however, the things it wants to bond again with are mostly the bad stuff (like us?)..the stuff we stripped out in the purification process...mercury, dioxin, lead, etc. So, we get a double purification process...first the water, then us.

I sent this to RO/DI dealer on ebay and this is what his reply is. What do you all think?

I wish I had an answer for you but, I have no clue! This may be one for Boomer or if there is a Dr. amongst us! If no one else can get an answer for you, I would send Boomer a PM. and see if he knows.

I don't think so...
I never got heavy into anatomy or anything, but if you look at it on a cellular level what the guy is describing is not what happens.
The cells in you body maintain an osmotic balance (espcially in you kidneys) with active pumping sites, it is not a regular passive memrane where ions always freely travel too and from where they want to be.
I could be wrong, and have done zero background research on this, but drinking a very pure water constantly would probably result in your kidneys processing a very dilute urine. Na K pumps will probably work quite hard to maintain an osmotic balance.
I don't see any reason or remember any reason why drink DI water would strip mecury lead and dioxin out of your body. If you have loads of that stuff in your body it's probably stored in lipids somewhere.

I dunno, I probably shouldn't have even replied. But it will be nice to be educated on this by someone that actually knows their physiology. I only took one course a few years ago and sure don't remember much...

I cant speak for what happens on the cellular level, but I drink RO water because it tastes better than tap. And it makes for crystal clear ice cubes.
