Quick note- We can't control what members do elsewhere but we can't allow certain behaviors to be encouraged here either. Let's play nice here at the Sanctuary, K?

Thanks.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Wit, it didn't show up on the home page tho.

My PM was kinda nasty, but I wasn't too mean, and didn't blame him directly, good thing I sent that in a PM tho, otherwise I'd probably get banned, or at least temporarily, cause I don't think he allows PMs to be sent from "regular users".

I didn't send a PM as it is the discretion of the Admin. Was just making a funny, no flame intended. The hotlink is fine with me!

Please don't take things as a personal attack guys. I don't know the reason that signature lines were edited yet but my Lego-diver gif isn't linking and displaying anymore there either.

There is currently a LOT of change going on in the entire community and not just one board. If you don't feel you're being treated fairly or have feedback that you don't think is being heard, please feel free to let me know if I can help on the boards that I'm associated with.

If you step back as an observer you can see this board growing by leaps and bounds, another's membership healing and getting back to the issues of reefing, and another quiet enough to hear crickets chirping after hosting much of the bitterness of transition.

Why exactly does everyone enjoy using these forums anyways? Personally I think it's a great way to learn, and when I have a chance to offer something back, that's a great feeling as well. Also you make friends along the way. Ultimately you're helping other hobbyists, not forum owners.

If the "this board, that board" stuff doesn't stop soon my head is going to explode... This site is mostly composed of the people that gave another forum it's reputation for being one of the friendliest... right?

My thoughts are the same.

This "My dog is better than your dog" is childish.

Move on and enjoy this great hobby.

You know what? I agree that "my dog is better than your dog" is childish. I just don't see why having a banner for another site is bad. What's the big deal, if the site is a good one, it will stay that way and I was just providing links to my other favorite sites. At least the URL to the links weren't altered, just the banner. There are many sites out there, and if it weren't for banners in other's sig lines, I probably wouldn't know about them. All sites have strengths and weaknesses and we can gain something from each one.

All ~

While I respect and agree with what has been said above, please make sure that this does not turn into a RAG-bashing thread.

I want to say three things:

(1) The turning off of the vb [img] tag in the signature line is a switch that could have been easily "flipped" by mistake.

(2) "All sites have strengths and weaknesses and we can gain something from each one.". I agree with this statement 100%, and will insure that this is integral to this site's philosophy. However, I cannot determine or enforce policies at other sites, nor will I attempt to.

(3) If you disagree with a policy that another site has put into effect, please voice it there - instead of here.

Thanks,

Nothing has been said to me about this?? I know Chris is going to allow links. But have not been told to police banners. So I have know Idea why at this time. I'll see what I can find out.

Well since I started this thread I think enough has been said and time to move on! If it's ok with everyone I think this thread should be closed!

Johnny,

Thank you, and I agree.

However, I'm not really big on censoring or "gagging" conversations unless it is absolutely necessary.

I do trust that the members here are all able to effectively "moderate" themselves.

Thanks all,

Hmmm.

Everyone raise your hand if you have seen this before.

Different sites have their strengths and weaknesses. There is absolutely nothing wrong with posting on more than one site to take advantage of strengths of each site.

If you have a problem with a particular site, please speak with the administrators of that site or put up a post in that sites feedback forum.

The administrators of any site have the right to make policy decisions for that site. This might have been a policy decision. It might be a mistake from a software upgrade. I can personally tell you that making changes to anything on a site can have unintended consequences.

Last but not least, REEFING SHOULD BE FUN!!!

Yup Reefing should be fun as we all have had struggles with our hobby from one perspective to another! But that is why we do this because we love what we do!!

I am an OFR but that's cool and I will do this forever!!
