Re: Married a long time

yeah keep in mind you're lucky to have all that stuff -- I sure dont, but then I have things to do too that I take for granted.. could go feed the animals at sibley park, could bike on more trails, etc etc etc

Re: Married a long time

We haven't been able to go anywhere lately for our anniversary since we had a kid. Our parents were wondering if they would get any grandkids since we waited for 10 years. We just go out for sushi. We work too much to go any distance. I did get a new wedding ring last year for our anniversary. Normally we don't give gifts but we've been working so hard and mine has taken a beating. Someday we'll get to go somewhere exciting. I really want to go to the Isle of Man.

If you mean Manhattan, We were just in Southern California and I like it much better than Manhattan. I worked there for 40 years and really hate the place. Tourists come to see buildings. Buildings are buildings, they don't do anything for me. I even worked on the construction of many of them.
The best parts of New York are all the way out east in the Hamptons and the North Fork which is all boating and wineries. I also think upstate NY is one of the prettiest places in the country. I have been to many places in the US and it is definately a beautiful country.
People tell me that they like Manhattan because you could get a pizza at 3:00 am. That is true but really, do you really need a pizza at 3:00 am?

Re: Married a long time

Gail and I just celebrated our 25th in July. It's a shame Paul that we seem to be a fading breed. My mother hasn't been married 25 years if you add all of her marriages together. I am married to my best friend also...we work together and play together, and we seem to love each other more than ever. In fact, the last two years have been the best two years of our life,...coincidentally that is how long we have been reefing. It was FOWLR before that.

Different place...Isle of Man. Here's a map of where it is. Map. I want to go to see the TT races. I haven't been to Manhattan but I have been to New York...I think it was Seneca Falls...up north. We went up to Niagra Falls while we were there too. We live in Vista which is about 1/2 hour north of San Diego. I love it here. I lived in Denver for about 8 years too. There are so many beautiful places in the states but I feel like it's home here.

Re: Married a long time

Catalyst I was stationed in Colorado Springs for about 6 monthes and lived in Denver. always tell people that if Colorado had an ocean it would be my favorite place.. We were just in San Clementi with friends a few months ago but never went to the Isle of Man or Niagara Falls. It is quicker to get to California from here.
I am trying to get my California friends here on my boat. I think they would enjoy the coast. The coast in San Clementi is so crowded you can't even walk past the homes.
I also likes Cave of the Winds in Manatau Falls Co.
Framerguy (love that painting) does your wife paint?
My parents would have been married for 68 years but my Father died fifty years ago. My Mom is 98 and barely alive in a nursing home.

This stuff is cheap and right near home so we may as well take advantage of it like the tourists do.
PAul that's normal bro! I live in a "tourist mecca" and take everything around me for granted!

Congrats on the anniversary! Julie and I are still newly-weds at 17 years married 20 years together Oct 7th. Seems like yesterday when I saw her in a store shopping and couldn't take my eyes off of her. Didn't MEET her then but later that week a "Bar Fight" brought us together. We talked and hung out later that week and after the first date I told my best friend, "I am going to marry her one day!" Here we are

Paul it does my heart good to hear your story and so many of these above mine. Love is strong and GOOD! And the best part about it... (drum roll please)

"It's cheaper to keep her!" Just kidding... Julie is my best friend and I want no other! She's a saint!!!

Congrats to Paul and EVERYONE! Life is GOOD!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

For these peoiple that get divorced four and five times, instead of getting married again, save time, just find a girl you hate and buy her a home.

Paul,I like your post .......congrats on your anniversary,I wish I'd found this thread sooner, you'll soon have another anniversary.......I turned 42 this year in January,I won't tell her age but she is 2 years older than me ,in March this year,my wife and I were married 22 years

we've been through a lot together, but we've never gave up,as a lot of people seem to do theses days.....I don't understand how some people can love each other enough to marry, then find later that they no longer care,I guess some mistakes are unforgivable but if they truly love each other, they should be able to work through what ever life throws at them......my wife's mom and dad have been married for over 60 years,my mom and dads divorce was final on their 15th anniversary,I've seen some of the things that wreck a marriage, and I intend to never let that happen to ours

Re: Married a long time

Thanks Willie.
We still do most things together except when the girls go out ,( don't want to be there) they usually take each other to a restaurant when it is one of their birthdays. It's a big crowd so it's always someone's birthday.
Last week we bought a new boat. It was on the south shore of Long Island and I had to drive it 40 miles around Brooklyn , Manhattan and Queens to get it to my Marina on the north shore. I was greated by my wife and daughter when I arrived.
This boat is fully equipped with a nice galley, central AC, heat and hot and cold water so we will be staying out a lot.
My wife is still my best friend and we still hang out all the time.
We usually do a crossword puzzel (that word doesn't look right) at night before falling asleep. We want to keep our minds active
I enjoy wking up early, usually about 6 and making breakfast. I do that on saturdays. She always wants me to let her sleep but I never do.
Today we are going to a wedding on Shelter Island which is a nice little Island out east between the north and south forks of Long Island.

that's great you do things together,we hardly ever get to do anything together anymore, with the economy the way it is right now,but we make do,we've about got our kids raised now,our daughter is 15 our son is 17,the wife and I might get to spend more time together in a few more years
the new boat will make life a lot nicer for you and her,it being more comfortable...your wife and daughter need their girls time together....
I'd like to have more in common with my son so we could do more together, but he don't care for the aquarium,I don't care for the video games....I hate ball sports,he loves 'em.......he and I do however like cars,he like the new sporty foreign made stuff,I like the old American made classics.....he is starting to notice the old American muscle cars of the 70's,there is hope for him

wish the newly weds the best of luck for me

You sound a lot like me, I hate sports. I am not a watcher, I am a doer. Watching other people play sports would be like an athlete coming to my job to watch me work. I didn't mind playing a little but I would never watch someone else work.
Video games, not going to happen either. Too many other creative things to occupy myself with. Cars I always liked. The wedding I went to last night, the groom had a 1950 Chevy which had "Just Married" on the windows and tin cans tied to the bumper. Excellent. He bought it a couple of years ago and restored it. I don't like foreign cars and being a Veteran, I am embarassed to ride in them. All of my cars, (and everything else I buy if possable, is American.
No one has ever touched my cars, house or boat. I never hired anyone to do anything except dentists and if I could see in my mouth, I would do that
The wedding was in a huge tent on the bride's Fathers lawn which is a home surrounded on three sides by water on Shelter Island. No suits and no Tuxedoes. Perfect. I loved it and I don't really like weddings much.
It was perfect, just a good time with my friends and no frilly crap just to make it more expensive. Very classy. I am very tired of Manhattan weddings and I have two of them coming up near the seaport.

I just never did care for any kind of sports unless there was an engine and wheels on it,it always amazed me that someone can take a car 300 mph down a 1/4 mile track, from a dead stop to full speed and back to stopped in just a few seconds I do my own oil changes and general maintenance on my cars, all that I can do for myself I will....and most everything I've tried to do,I did

thats the kind of wedding I prefer too,not formal...sounds like it was really nice, being outdoors was great, and probably a beautiful place

50 chevy thats nice,my favorites are the 55,56,and 57 chevys,I like the 57 crown vics too,and most all the old muscle cars, especially the old Dodges with the Hemi's.....the 71 Barracuda and the 71 Challenger were my favorites,I guess thats why I like the new Challenger so much......

I read another thread of yours about Capt. Leidig, sorry to hear of his passing......I could tell how you feel about the foreign made stuff,I'm the same way.... some things we just don't have a choice though,my ATV is made in Japan, most of our electronics are foreign made,I wouldn't know what to do without my computer,or my Hi-Def TV both are made in Japan,I think.....the funny thing is,I will not buy Japanese vehicles but I work for the Japanese at Firestone, have for 15 yrs
