I do know a woman that was a mail order bride and almost to the day she got her divorce ASAP.
Not because she had a horrible husband. In fact he was loaded and a cool guy.
She just wanted to be on her own here in the USA.

well k ill try to explain it in a way where i hope i dont offend anyone... so please do not take offence...
it actually started way back when i was a young kid and i worked at a private golf club for the richest of the rich here in minnesota... well alot of the members had foregn wives, in which i later found to be mail order brides... well after basically growing up there ( i was a caddie there from the age of 8 and worked there till i was 17) i saw how they lived. ( no offence meant with what i am about to say) but they expected different things from their wives. and since i saw this growing up day after day after day, it was embeded in my brain. hence i have alot of thoes people morals instilled into me. such as,
#1. my wife will never work
#2. i expect to have the house taken care of and not by me
#3. in america women were given a voice ( and they deserve it ) however i do believe that a man rules his household, and since i am the $$ maker i believe that i am in charge...
#4 i do believe that there is such a term as americanized. and when i say americanized i mean thoughts and decisions. in other countries these ways are not present... basically what i am trying to say is that i want to come home to a clean house, hot meal on the table, and i dont want none of that excess bs which i am sad to say american women have...
now i also want to state that i do appreciate american women. im not anti american i just dont want an american wife. i want a russian wife, who i can educate and provide for.

ALSO in no way i am a mean person, i have never raised a fist at a woman, i have never laid a hand on a woman in a way meant for harm. im a very kind, loving person. maybe it wasnt the correct moral to be seen by a little 8 yr old, but alas they were put into my head.

once again, no harm or ill words to any of you, i truley like you all. your all great people. and i dont want to start any kind of war or debate. all i am doing is asking for anyinfo on where i can start doing research. thank you for listening to me rant and rave...

also you dont buy them exactly, from what i understand you buy there addy phn # ect ect then you go from there by talking, eventually you go say hello, and if everything is good you must apply for a fiance visa. this alows them to come to america for 3 months after all the us embassy stuff over there. whilest they are here for the 3 months either you get married or you ship em back n try again,its called mail order cuz you pick out the exact one....

My dad did it for wife number 3. His situation was a bit different in that he met the lady through a friend of his that had married the womans sister. Actually that is quite common because the women end up wanting their families close by and try to make that happen any way they can. I don't know the exact details but I do know he had to travel to her country (Vietnam) to actually meet her before they could apply for the visa. They had to marry in a certain abmount of time and stay married for I think it was two years for her to be able to stay here permanately. She had the misfourtune of having him die a few months into their marriage. She took the money and ran. We don't know where she is.

I know there were language problems and many cultural differences that made the relationship a challenge.

I don't hate you! Your entitled to your beliefs. I also know you are a good guy! From some of your posts I've realized you have a big heart! I would not mind at all if my husband wanted me to stay home. I do feel though that as far as decisions go that should be equally shared by both.

As far as her staying home and cleaning house and cooking, that is a full time job! Housewives, I believe can work harder and longer hours than people who are out in the workfield.

depends on the situation. i hope i dont sound controling. but maybe i am just a little but, she is free to make her own decisions, after all we are all our ownselves, if she wants a car go buy one new clothes fine, i dont care. do what you want as long as the formentioned stuff is done.

lizabeth the reason for that is so when she goes and applies for the fiance visa she will bring a pic of you 2 together so the embassy knows it isnt a sham.

agreed, being a housewife is not an easy chore, especially with me living there. but if a beautiful russian lady is all for it and we get along, have a good time, great im all for it. basically in todays american society women believe they must work, well like i said i will not have a wife who is working, for this reason i figure why not go get me a foriegn woman who will do it to live here, after all isnt this a great country.

wit- that is so untrue, i was a carsalesman for 6 yrs, id still be doing it if it wasnt for my dwi's. i know how much i made and i know i caould support not only myself and another but 3 or 4 more peole as well. there is alot of money out there, you just need the drive to go get it. i do see you point alot of todays jobs dont pay enough, your field is one of em! retail sales, the only job paid what your worth.

Have you given on line dating services or matchmaking a try? A friend of mine at work just did this and has met a really great guy! You just fill out the application honestly and see what replies you get. Personally, I would love to stay home and just take care of the house. Our situation, for now, dictates that I have to work to make ends meet. I am sure that there are other women out there who would feel the same. Good luck either way. I'm sure you'll find the girl of your dreams!

She'd think she married a king and she'd live in the lap of luxury compared to the mud tent she was used to.

WOAH!!!! Excuse my American womaness beliefs here....I am really going to curb my statements and make them brief. I stay home....I take care of the house, and my daughter.....I also have a brain - and an intelligent one at that. I can't imagine what kind of state I would be in if I wasn't ALLOWED to voice my opinions, or carry on an intelligent conversation with my husband or his business associates.

Hmmm....

Not to be a shrink Clint but obviously I think there is something deeper here. Perhaps you are scared of being out of control, perhaps you want to feel you have worth or value, perhaps you have an inferiority complex? Again, I don't know but I am pretty sure that a mail order bride is not going to be the answer to you problem. If it is "Love" that you are trully looking for, then the quick fix route is not the way to go (like out hobby and many things in life, you just can't rush something like this). It takes work (A WHOLE LOT), compromise, commitment, etc...

It sounds to me that you more or less want a puppet to "train," or more or less, a slave that is allowed to go out and buy things now on then (at your discretion of course). I don't know, some people are into it but a subordinate woman would bore me to death.

Just as you said, don't take any offense to what I have said, I am just calling it as I see it... After all, we all have our own issues, I just don't want you to make a mistake that you will regret.
