Re: OT: Keep Camaro, or get a Solstice?

You don't say whether you have a different car for your daily driver or not, so let's go at this from two different angles...

1) Why not garage the Camaro, drag it out for weekends and car shows, and get another car for your daily driver?

2) Would you really be happy with one of Detroits neutered "muscle-less" cars after driving the Camaro you've put so much into?

If the Camaro isn't your daily driver, (and with gas prices being what they are, I hope it isn't) then why get rid of it and take such a hit on the "investment" you have in it? If it's just a "WAAHOO" car, keep it, maintain it, and enjoy it.

I like boomers suggestion, if I had a classic Id keep it. Love muscle cars.
The Pon Soltice convertable top was a hassel to put up or down.
I didnt like the charger it bounced and floated in stead of a tight response.

Hey Andy, I used to race at US41 all the time, still race my bike there on occasion. I recognize the staging lanes in your pic.

Go drive a solstice, they are a sporty looking car built for girls(no offense girls). Very weak, makes like 180hp. If you really want a new car that makes respectable power do a GT Mustang for less money & over 300hp with tons of mod options or Pontiac G8 is a sweet car & makes about 360hp for under $30K.

I do have another car that I purchased about 5 months ago, for my DD. '07 pontiac G5... GREAT on gas by the way, if you can work the right habits into your routine. I live out in the southwest burbs of chicago and i routinely get 28-30 mpg just driving to work and school (no highway) the low end of that range occurs when i venture into the congested parts of town on weekends or on errands. on the highway i get 36-38mpg w/ cruise set ~62mph! not to mention it's an automatic! (see, everyone who has a jap fetish... domestics aren't bad!)

I digress...

for the time being i suppose i'll hang onto the camaro, and have some fun with it. if the right opportunity arises though... Can't say i'll keep it forever...!

500 bucks for the monte?!! I know about 10 guys that would have happily paid double, assuming it was in decent condition.

Even more who would pay dearly for a Monte in Phoenix, they love em for lowriders with hydrollics.

Let her pick the color for her future car that way you can have your way with the new camaro. Have you thought about colors or options for that yet? I hope they bring back the lime green with the new challenger.

If you must get a Solstice, please don't get the yellow one!!! I say white or black. What kind of motor does it have?

Re: OT: Keep Camaro, or get a Solstice?

I have thought about colors on the new camaro... and I'm thinking Red again.. or a nice bright blue (thinking 69 camaro) with white stripes...

Bill.. sucks that you feel that way, lol mean was one of my main choices right now...

it's a 2.0l ecotec with a small turbo spinnin ~18lb boost. makes 260/260. a simple tune of the ecu, bringing the boost to ~22lbs and adjusting the A/F properly nets about 290/300. and runs 13.0+/-.15 in the quarter. not to shabby!

Re: OT: Keep Camaro, or get a Solstice?

22lbs of boost is alot. If you do buy one, we'll have to line em up at the track.
