OT What the *^%$!!!

I was on my way home from a hard day at work today and this happened....

I was stopped at a red light and the girl behind me was talking on her cell phone and not paying attention. She was really sorry, and said she was trying to read a text message from her boyfriend. I was so angry. I went to make sure she was ok, then had to walk away and have a cigarette before I really let her have it(verbally of course.) The cop said her insurance card was expired, so I bet thats going to be fun. I am so upset, that car is my other wife. Here's a more flattering pic.

The battery in the trunk is leaking, and it's so smashed I can't get it out, so I have to go figure something out to get to work tomorrow. Wish me luck.

OMG!!! The cop would probably have had to arrest me after he pulled me off of her. I would have wanted to bash her face in...after I smashed her phone, of course.

That really does suck, I feel your pain and hope insurance takes care of it. did you have uninsured motorists insurance?

I had the same thing happen in January with my new car it had 2800 miles on it

It had no where near that much damage though

She did get a ticket, but I'm not sure what it was. Probably failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. I've calmed down a little bit now, there is really nothing I can do but wait and hope for the best. I was able to cut the battery out of the trunk with a sawzall, and hook up a new one, so at least I'll be able to go to work to tomorrow, and hear all the crap from them. It sounds strange, but I'm sure the guys at work will come up with a way to make fun of me for this. Oh, my little brother's golf clubs were in the trunk, and his new Taylor Made 3 wood is broke.

So sorry to hear and see. That is why I have a Bluetooth and don't text. You have to pay attention to where you are going.
I had the same thing happen when I was stopped at a light but they didn't even have that excuse. The guy claimed he just didn't see us. It was the day after surgery as well and hubby was bringing me back from the doc.
Glad to hear everybody was ok. Hope you get the car fixed without a problem. Even if her insurance doesn't pay, yours should pay but you will have the deductible. Then when your insurance gets the money from her or her insurance they give you back the deductible.

simple lawsuit....250 to file a civil suit. (well thats here in florida) you file for damages plus some....and they will sieze her assets or make her pay monthly installments from her paycheck. If she doesnt ever get a job again the court will put a judgement on her credit so she cant do anything again, until its taken care of....cant buy a car a house, open a bank account. You will get your $$ just go about it the legal way. or if you claim it on your insurance have your insurance sue her and you dont have to deal with the headache.

Man i an so sorry this happened to your road wife. I was a dodge mechanic and this happened to be one of my favorite cars. I hate to see it this way. good luck man

There's no way I'm going through all the legal b.s. If anything I'll just pay the 500 deductible, and plan on never seeing that money again. I still have a claim from 5 yrs ago when my 85 monte was totaled by an uninsured motorist. I really hate the idea of lawsuits, court, paperwork, and cell phones!

Ugh! Sorry this happened to you Bill. Glad you're okay. Hope the whole insurance thing goes your way, too. Hang in there! My husband's Cobra kit car was hit last August, and he just got it back two weeks ago. It was a hassle but he hung in there and the kid's insurance paid out the $14,000 to get it fixed correctly.

HOly cow. Do the cops know she was on the phone? It's illegal in jersey but I don't know how many other states have made it illegal too. Not just an incidental on stopping you for something else, the cops can pull you over for it.

It's illegal to talk on your phone in the city of Chicago, but not the state of Illinois. Going to court and "making her pay", won't get my car fixed any faster. I don't want revenge, just to be back where I was before the accident.
