Re: OT: Bout me...

Thanks gang!

I was sitting here working *for once* and in walks my Dr/Surgeon! He's building a new house and wanted to know if I could assist him... you're DANG skippy I can We talked about the "nerve block" in between house stuff and I'm literally excited about it.

this particular Nerve Block is a 2-part procedure in that they inject a pain killer into the area as well as go around the actual disk and inject steroids. He said it's got better than an 80% success rate of NO surgery in cases like mine. How FREAKING SWEET is that? I thought it was just a "numbing" agent to help with the pain and healing but it's BETTER! I'm so excited now!!!

He said I should be feeling MUCH better later tonight and even Mo-better by the time I wake up tomorrow! That's some of the BEST news I've had in a while!

Thanks gang for your comments and very kind words

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: OT: Bout me...

What a stroke of luck that your doc stopped in! Good luck later... 80% sounds pretty dang good, doesn't it?!

I know I don't have to say this, but follow all directions he gives you for afterwards...very important part of this sort of procedure.

Maybe you're different, but John tends to gloss over those things and do stuff too soon.

I like those #'s very much!

Yeah I'll follow them to a TEE! So far (Since visiting the Dr) I've followed them precisely. I'm doing ANYTHING I can to avoid another operation. I've done like John in the past but not with regards to my back/spine. This could be a "Life Changing" issue if I don't handle it correctly and I don't want to be hobbled and crippled at 37 like my brother is. I have a VERY active life style and would like to think I can continue it for a LONG time to come. I gotta get more healthy and "Back Smart" NOW!!

Julie ran into someone over the weekend who was about to have their 2nd back operation for the SAME reason. He had it and "Felt GREAT" afterwards. Since he felt so good he didn't "Follow Dr.s Orders" and now he's getting to go through it all again... that's what I am going to avoid

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post my results when I can.

Re: OT: Bout me...

I'm home. Went GREAT! The whole procedure took less than 10 minutes. It was cool.. she marked my back... did a CT Scan to confirm the mark... inserted needle... took another scan to confirm placement.... pushed the needle into the nerve.... took another scan and then injected the nerve. Was only slightly painful and I was walking down the hall on my on in less than 15 minutes total! The whole staff was so nice and helpful to me... it was AWESOME! I'm gonna fill out Customer Service cards on both of them.... WOW!!

I'm home and I haven't felt this pain free in months. Unfortunately it's the DRUGS talking right now but hopefully in a couple of days everything should settle down and the lack of pain should return and be Long Term if not permanent.

Thanks for the well wishes, kind words and prayers.

Glad to hear things went so well.
There is a lot to see at MACNA so be sure you are ready to do a lot of walking when you get there.

Don't forget to send my frag.

I figure since you're all hopped up on meds, you won't remember if you did or didn't promise to send a frag. lol

They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Re: OT: Bout me...

I'm glad your back home and feeling good!
I cringed when you mentioned the needle in the back and into the nerve.
Not to sure I would like that but I supposed if I were having pain all the time, I might welcome it.
Anyway, hope it last for a very long time!
