OT: WWhat a Joke!!!!!!!!!!!

Between the "question of the day" and "hows the weather" this sould just be a chat room!!!!!! Not a thing on fish and reefs!!!!! There are more threads and post here on those 2 threads and post here one that then when I go to answer a thread on a real subject and there is 1-5 persons on it, It is a joke here, right!!!!!!!!!??????? These reefers want real answers, and everyone is "my dog got stolen or sold from the kennel" get real!!! You ask for answers on a RODI unit and then you listen to someone who bought crape on Ebay who has no knowledge of it and sez it is great, and some other sucker does the same and 6 months later I have to figure out his algae problem. Or the Damsel for cycleing a tank, yes they surfive but the most aggrisive fish, and "my Tang in my long Biocube has Ich" do you think it is from my Damsel chasing around all day" here was one or the best tonight, " my Madrerin is not eating in my 14gal Biocube" just get real and help these ignorents that have done no reading on anything prio to getting sucked into ther LFS and Nemo in the theater!!!!!! But I guess "the weather here today, and the word game" fits a Reef, Salt water web sight, and I give you credit, you have a fresh water area tobic zone, is more imprtant then what you should be doing. The only thing you have going for you is Boomer from RC is here, you see non of the other greats from there here, I can only think they know it is a chat room and not realy here to serious support the hobby!!!!!! I know from reading there post there are some, but when thee are 3 viewing reef dicusions, and 35 viewing "Off Topic" what are you/we doing here?????????

My 2 cents worth:
If you want a sterile environment where you get scientific quotes from people you don't know, then there are alot of reef sites out there.

This is a reef community of friends and future friends made of people who would like to enjoy this hobby as well as many others. If you don't like the topic of a thread, then don't read it. Most are labeled as O.T. so you know they are Off Topic.

The reason I came to this site is because it is alot of fun for reef stuff as well as alot of other stuff. It is super beginner friendly where beginners can post, hopefully without get the riot act read to them. Hopefully at some point down the road, they can learn enough to help somebody else down the road or move on to a more advanced website.

Is this site the answer for everyone? No.
Is it a great place to learn about marine fish? Yes!
Is it the be all and end all for everyone? Probably not.
I enjoy it.

what is your problem the only reason iam responding to this is because it was on the front page when i clicked on. People here are useful and yes thier are worthless people on the net but that dosent discredit everyone. i cant believe you would go on a rant on a blog page. i like it here and thats good enough for me. why dont you go hold your head in your pillow and cry yourself to sleep. People starting out need help even if they dont know what they are doing at least here we can help. You learn by asking questions and thats what alot of these people are doing. so i hope you take the time to read my long message of your disapprovale, because you wasted my time reading yours.

your site has a nice feature that RC does not have ISPY!! I do not like opinions, I know allo our tanks are little eqo systems and what does work for me may not work for someone elses system. With that said, there are more threads and post here to non related subjects then what RS stands for, and yes you have more forums then RC that relate to other topics, which is good, but when I see more post to them, and I am not saying when someone psot a thread it is egnorgt, it RS just looses some of it credability, from some of others who may want tobe here. I take it you hit RC, Bertroni, Boomer, Azdesertrat, jadare, Randy Holmes-Farley, subcribe here? No just Boomer your best Chem/ RODI expert, why he cares, the rest well I can only guess, they have there hands full at RC, and for food of thought, they do not care about the weather some ware, they got it of the internet with there cofffee, did the crossward puzzle drinking it, not have to see it all day on a reef site, and these are moderadors there. I am sure you haveread some of Randy's articles, he is well published, just like Julian Sprung! On a couple of reallly bad info on RODI I PM Boomer to step in here to give theright/credible answer. If I have a question I only follow the advice or the few that I trust, the rest that chime in are giving opinions and what worked ror them, but if I GETENOUGH OF THE SAME OPINIONS. sory locked on to CAPS, I start to look at that too.

Many of us have been in the hobby since RC was in its infancy. The place has turned into a very unfriendly place over the past 5-6 years.
Newbies who ask questions get flamed and told how stupid they are; someone asks a simple question about a certain brand of equipment, they get flamed and told how stupid they are; someone asks about treating a disease/parasite, they get flamed and told how stupid they are........

Granted, the majority of the community there isn't that way at all. There are some fabulously knowledgable people there who will go out of their way to help, BUT, the site/community still tolerate the flame-fests. Why? Because they're big enough that people can get away with it, and if they lose a member or two...no biggie.
Reef Sanctuary was started by a bunch of people who disliked the way things were going at a different site, one that wasn't particularly friendly, where the owner of the site only cared about making money, not friends.
Maybe that's ok, but many of us didn't think so, and here we are.

NO flaming is permitted by anyone for any reason.

I get chastized occasionally because I'm pretty blunt when I explain things, but I do NOT flame anyone, nor would I tolerate any flames in any thread.

Sanctuary has many meanings, but here, it takes the meaning of safety or refuge & protection.
People who post here are safe from flaming and/or harrassment for asking the most basic of questions...the kind some sites get all pissy about and call them "Dumb questions," when in reality, the only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

I'm sorry you're not happy with the "family atmosphere" here in the community we have.
That being said, in spite of the ISPY feature here, WHY would you hang out in a user forum that you don't like? By all means, if we don't meet your standards, feel free to leave.

I think my tank is great. So i guess that makes me a great! I have been on RC since 05 and follow less then 20 tanks. Most people over there do not know what they are doing and that is why you see so much flaming.
I have to agree with you on the OT being to strong here though. It was not always like this. A year ago it was not like this. It came with the nano's i believe....

Yes they have "The lounge" but my point is, it does not make up the bulk of the threads/post, I donot mean to be credical, and no I do not need to cry under my pillow, as someone suggested, I just like for this hobby good info!!!

You have to realize, this is a MUCH smaller community than RC, and tends to be more closely knit. People here are "friends" even though most of us have never met. We bullsh*t about our daily grind, our kids, pets (other than fish) and everything in between. We do this in the Off Topic forum, but because many of us have no other lives, we spend hours each day BS'ing with each other in these threads. You could always go to this page:
http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/
instead of the home page. That way, you'll see what's happening in the individual forums instead of just what's currently being discussed. When things get hopping here, things pass through the home page list pretty quickly, and if that's all you watch for activity, you may miss some good topics.

I do however, stand by my original post on the subject.
