OT: Plumbers or Insurance folks here?

In my Atlanta home, a pressure regulator failed, leading to external water pressure in excess of 120 PSI to burst my water heater and flood my basement.

Initially my insurance company said they would cover the flood, less deductable, but not the water heater. I have asserted that the failing device (regulator) caused all the downstream damage (including flood AND my water heater) and that, while the normal wear and tear provision prevents me from asking them to cover the regulator, they must cover the water heater as precipitant damage.

I think they are beginning to come to my POV. However has anyone else ever experienced this situation?

John, they'll do anything not to pay! Fight them all the way.

Does your policy have a appliance clause. I know mine does so if any thing goes out no matter what the issue $35 & it is fixed or replace

No Jack, I did not insure appliances because I have found over time that doesn't pay out.

I doubt I could get them to pay for the WH if it had failed due to age. I think I am in the right on precipitant cause.

I have never had any questions ask about it on my policy a stove that was put inin the middle 70's was replace @ $35.00 out of pocket for a policy that cost me $100.00 per year it to me anyway is like free appliances
