When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

I loved microsoft server 2003! I used it for my company in NY. Very stable OT. I thought the new one is due in 2010?

I liked the macs I used. Last time I did it was OS 10. What are we up to now? I still have a G3 in the basement. with that music program on it. wasted too much time on that.

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

I can't even begin to fathom converting over my hospital / imaging centers to MAC, every Hospital modality from genearal x-ray rooms, to MRI / CT are running via a windows based platform, all this sitting on a network, DICOM images flying around the world VIA internet and VPN lines, off site maintenance, etc... That would be quite an undertaking for the medical industry. But anythings possible I guess, I just don't see it in anyones budget, let alone the various manufacture software upgrades that would be needed on each piece of equipment.

But I agree, Vista Sucks!
I have a network here at home, 2 PC's have Vista BASIC, one has XP, and my laptop has Vista Ultimate. I can't stand how slow the Vista Basic is...

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

Jason you're exactly right. But I'm pretty sure you're running an NT backbone (not sure which version) at the hospital. I've yet to see any mission critical companies go VISTA. It's just not practical. From an IT stand point it would be professional IT Suicide. Now if I enjoyed user complaints, excessive lag time, down time (Reboots are almost humorous) as well as constant incompatibility then yeah I'd give Vista a whirl again. But truth is I like to go home now and again and I don't like having to babysit each Vista Machine every time someone hits print, requests files from the server or sometimes even moves the mouse.

True it would take nothing short of an IT disaster to switch everyone over to MAC....at least from where we stand right now.... There's always HOPE!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

I heard this not to long ago. i went up to atlanta to a microsoft conference. i took the day off and lost a days pay but ended up with way over a 1000 dollars worth of software. Sql Server, Visual Basic, etc.

From what they said, Vista is basically written like a plugin for xp, an update kinda (and a sucky one at that).

They have a Completly new base os coming out in the 2009-2011 time frame. It will have many of vistas features. Vista was basically a crack at making a OSX type operating system.

I love how they have a 2 year unknown for their release date. might as well be a 100 year gap in the development world of computers. By the time it hits shelves it will be obsolete

Hey as long as it LOOKS cool when you walk by and admire it

I do like the "Visual" aspect of it but many times those things are easily "implemented" into an existing platform.

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

I've never tried a computer with Vista on it. Mine all have XP. Even with XP there's always tweaking to do. Everytime something updates something else doesn't work quite right.

I think my next computer will be an Apple!

Yes you're right! Even the BEST of them need some "Tweaking"... it's like a car.. you want it to be "Personal" the day you buy it. But what Vista is like is... you buy a new car but it takes 10 minutes to start up (while you're sitting there ready to go somewhere) and even when it starts up it's so slow.... sluggish on take off and it doesn't like the roads you've been driving on. You're now required to go make whole new roads and new EVERYTHING to work with your new car

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

If the look of Vista is what you seek...(without the headaches)
Download BricoPack Vista Inspirat Ultimate 2 on CrystalXP.net - Shell Packs

Windows X’s Shrine » Vista Transformation Pack

There are many more out there; these two are just the two I see most recommended.

Re: OT: Let's SAVE Windows XP

I like the idea of making it LOOK like Vista without making it ACT like Vista (slowing it down that is).
