Kitty Laid To Rest!

Hi All!

Well it was a sad day for Pat and I as this morning at 9AM I took our 12 + year old cat to the Vet and he was examined and determined that he would be better off to be put to sleep. He had a bad intestinal disease, some sores and diabetes. He was getting sick all the time and his joints were deteriorating so it was time.

I held him in my lap and the shot was given and he was gone in about a minute. My wife could not bear to go so she said Good-bye to him last night and stayed up as late as possible to be with him.

Hard to believe this good ole boy from Montana had quite a few tears flowing when the cat was gone.

He will be sorely missed and will always be remembered.

Very sorry to hear that..

I know that feeling as well.. both with an old cat (11yrs) and a lop-ear rabbit (10+yrs)...

Amazing how attached people get to them... I think that is why I have not gotten another after they went...

I'm so sorry bud. I develop great attachments to my critters too. I get very sad too when they have to go so this does not shock me at all. Do me a favor Johnny---Give Pat a hug for me.

Johnny and Pat,
Sorry to hear that he had to be put to sleep. This is one of the things that we know we must face when we own a pet but, It's very hard to do. Pets are wonderful additions to the household and bring so much joy to our lives. As hard as it is to say good-bye and as much as it hurts it will not ever stop me from having pets. The years of enjoyment are to be treasured. I could not imagine my house without them.

He is at peace now, young again and full of life. I'll tell my Dawn to take him under her wing!

Love you both.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Pat had a tough time of it yesterday and so did I. We kept looking for the cat but of coarse it was not here.

Time will heal and we will remember the fond memories and great times with our cat.

I am sorry to hear that Johnny and Pat. I would suggest a replacement when you are ready. I know how pets can become part of the family. When you do replace the kitty be sure and check out the rescue groups in your area. There are hundreds of thousands of dogs cats etc awating a home because they were not able to stay in thiers for one reason or another.

Give Pat a hug fer me

Jeff

Thanks Jeff for the kind words!

Pat at this time does not want another cat which is understandable but maybe in time we will see.

Will give Pat a big hug for ya!

Thanks caja and we are doing pretty good today. When I got up this morning I was looking for the cat so I would not step on him so it will take some time to realize he is gone.

Sorry for the loss of your cat. It is never easy to lose a pet, but don't let that stop you from having them.
I watch my dog (who is a therapy dog) bring many smiles to the faces of the people he meets in the hospital.

I applaud you for having the courage to take your vet's advice when it was time to let your cat go. So many people force theirs to suffer for too long because they can't say goodbye at the proper time.

I've lost many pets, but wouldn't be without one.
Best wishes to you both in dealing with your understandable grief.
