OT: Intresting TV Show on Discovery

I'm not sure this is the right place but I watched this morning before heading to school a show on Discovery channel on the Georgia Aquarium. The title of the show is What's that about: The Aquarium.

I found it was quite interesting to watch. One interesting fact is that they use Instant Ocean salt.

Check it out if you can find out when it airs again.

Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

IO is loving that account! They must filter the water in some way & reuse it. I wonder how they do it? Imagine how many tons of IO they ordered in the beginning!

Re: OT: Intresting TV Show on Discovery

Hey Cracker, well it was several tons if i remember correctly. They had a part of the show where they talked about their filtering and showed them pouring several large (like 3ft3) bags of salt into the tank.
From their website

How much salt does it take to make the Ocean Voyager exhibit salty?

It took 1.8 million pounds of sea salt to make the largest exhibit as salty as the ocean.

Re: OT: Intresting TV Show on Discovery

1.8 million pounds?!?!?!

OMG! And they say it like they actually mixed up that much themselves! I figured they would have brought it in from the ocean and hauled it in on a tanker truck.
