Re: OT WeightLoss Thread

I finally decided in October to take off the extra "baby" weight I gained along the way, especially because my baby is three years old. I have lost a slow but steady 9 pounds. I am going slow, so I can keep it off. It has been more of a change in life style than a diet. I pay attention to carbs. and glycemic index. I decide I needed to make a change as I am very predisposed to diabetes. Both sides of the family have a history and I had gestational diabetes during both pregnancies. I have found these bars that help me in a bind. They are low glycemic index, low carbs, high protein and the right fats. They are called Kind bars. I eat these when I am in danger of making bad food choices, especially on the mornings I work. I also eliminated coffee. I spoke to a nutritionist who explained to me that it is not the caffeine that is bad but the way the coffee bean is processed/ brewed. Apparently, it congests the liver, causing changes in hormones and secondarily causing insulin resistance. This is the precursor to diabetes. I wish you the best in your quest. Hope some of this info helps.

Re: OT WeightLoss Thread

Hey all, i havent been on a scale in a while but i'm sure i've slowly shedded some fat, i didnt say pounds because i'm feeling a little more toned so its possible the weight hasnt changed much. shirts are fitting looser, also having to tighten the belt more and was snug in a size 44 pants now snug in some size 40s comfortable in others, just depends on the brand.

this is mostly due to staying away from starches as much as i can and keeping busy biking the dogs everyday or two, landscape jobs starting to increase and all the dog events going on. havent been in the gym (really need to cancel membership), only hitting the weightset in the garage about twice a week for 30mins.

Re: OT WeightLoss Thread

Great report JoJo! Keep as consistent as possible and keep avoiding the starches.

I'm still holding at a "lean" 185 lbs.

You can look through here for some activities.
Calories Burned with Bicycling

Great job Jojo. Diet is important. That scale is all but useless. Going by how your clothes are fitting is way better. It does take time to change your body composition. Some days are discouraging because you get on that scale and the weight stays the same but you're loosing inches. I've been dealing with that too.
I'm excited...I had to go buy more weights two times now. I've quadrupled the weight since I started. I've gained 1/2" in my arms and my calves.

Don't you feel great!?

Re: OT WeightLoss Thread

I've been fabulous, thanks.

The link Catalyst posted is very accurate. I figure in my interval based cycling class my students can burn between 800 and 1,200 calories. Size, cardio vascular fitness, and lean body mass will have an infulence on the numbers.
