I have been cycling a lot lately. I don't have an over weight issue but that doesn't mean i can't have a heart attack either!
I use to run a lot in NY but haven't since i moved south. To humid. The bike seems like a good alternative.

I miss humidity! Ours here is generally in the teens. Once it hits 20% I feel it! Back home in Illinois, it's super humid, but you can at least breathe!

I got up early this morning and did yoga for half an hour. Now it is coffee time.

just finished my cup of coffee & i'm having a lazy morning because i'm sore from jogging the last couple of days. i may be moving to fast, i'll probably drop to 3 miles a day so i dont get discouraged. i really should be following the link that Nikki gave us, i guess i'm a typical male...down, down ego, down boy.

The first time I ran, I ran a 2.2 mile loop. After that, I rarely ran unless threatened. Picked it back up again last year. Started with 1/4 mile and worked my way up. I have read that Nikki's method is quite productive. You manage to regain a lot of energy with those short breaks between running.

Are you running daily? I would take a day at least every other 2 days to just do some light cardio. Give those knees a break!

yea, i'm using the treadmil everyday at the gym. its not my knees, but my thighs & calf are really tight, its my fault i'm not stretching. i havent been doing the cardio like i should

If your gym has a sauna, I'd say hit it for a short period of time. I can only sit in one for 20 minutes, but it helps a little with the wind-down. No one would fault you for slowing down for a day, it's you walking around like you are peg legged, not us! Eat well, stretch a little and enjoy your break.

Sauna? i'm in florida, everywhere's a sauna. there's no break, i have a landscape & tree trimming job today. would that count as stretching?

I'm really glad you find the running plan I posted productive. I really think it is. I ran Tuesday for the first time in a long time and I really had to stretch Wednesday to help with the soreness. Remember that the important thing is to not do too much to quickly. That's the best way to get injured and discouraged.

In WV that is all there is, humidity!! Warm, in the mid 70's but is really humid!!!

exactly, so you would think with that type of weather & me wear jeans, long sleeves, & boots while doing landscaping & lawn service that it would be easy for me to loose some of this weight

just came from the gym, i've been bad, havent been there since Thursday plus we went out to our friends house & ate fried wings & french fries.

that beginner runners program that Nikki recommended really works, i did the 5k loop today with no problem. my buddy who only stopped jogging about 6 mos ago had a hard time keeping up with me & i dont have any tightness
