I’m a student at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (in AZ), and I am conducting market research for a study on business plans for small businesses. The following questions are for an online coral propagation business. Please answer these questions honestly, and if you don’t know the answer or one doesn’t apply, you may skip that question. All answers will be kept confidential (no names will be used, etc.). If you do not wish to post your answers publicly, but you still wish to participate, you may PM or email your answers to me directly. Thank you very much for your time! 1) How often do you purchase live corals online? a. Once per year b. Once every 6 months c. 1-3 times per month d. 4-8 times per month e. never 2) If given the opportunity, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being most likely, how likely are you to purchase captive raised corals? 1 2 3 4 5 3) When it comes to shipping costs, which would you prefer? a. Minimum order of $80-100 and free or drastically reduced shipping b. No minimum order, and fixed shipping of $30-40, and orders over $150 get free shipping c. Staggered rates $1-$50 order=$35 Shipping, $51-$100 orders=$25 shipping, etc. 4) Does a live arrival guarantee tend to make or break your decision to purchase a coral from an online vendor? Yes No 5) When you order online, do your corals come from vendors that sell (check all that apply): a. Primarily fish and some corals b. Primarily corals and some fish c. Only corals d. Dry goods and corals e. A little bit of everything 6) On average, how much do you spend on your typical online coral order? a. Less than $50 b. $50-100 c. $100-150 d. $150-250 e. $250+ 7) Do you participate in group orders to save on shipping and receive discounts? a. No b. Yes, but 50% of the time, or less c. Yes, I only buy online in group orders 8) When you purchase corals, do you prefer to buy: a. Smaller fragments that are often less expensive b. Larger mini-colonies to large colonies that will most likely be more expensive 9) If you were to shop at a captive raised coral store, would you prefer to see more: a. Small Polyp Stony Corals (SPS) b. Large Polyp Stony Corals (LPS) c. Soft Corals d. Zoanthids/Palythoas e. Other (please specify)__________________ Thanks again, Joey
