Re: OT: How's the weather?

89 deg right now, supposed to be 94 today. I am at work for three days straight so I am hoping for it to cool off a bit and am praying nobody gets stupid with fireworks.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Hey Mike how are ya? It's sticky out but only about 70 degrees cool enough to open the windows and let the smoke clear as it were.

My dad had a severe case of heatstroke the other day on the set. He had a massive headaches for most of the day (we all get em in my family.) and then the monsoon started and they (the actors) were all outside my dad and one other guy tried holding the tent in place (meanwhile there is lighting going on and the tent is held up by metal poles) Finally the cattle cars arrived and it was women and children first. My dad was the last one in a bus and he was drenched. They tried drying him off but it didn't work very well. Then it got EXTREMELY muggy here and he got his headache back. He had to sit down due to dizziness and he felt nauseous. The medics came over to him from a request from another extra and had a look at him. They called the paramedics and he as whisked away in an ambulance.

He as held overnight at a hospital and was supposed to get a stress test for his heart (his BP was 200/180) He was also supposed to get an electrolyte test but since it wasn't a VA hospital he couldn't get either.

The next day the hospital released him and he WALKED 3 miles to the set Finally someone driving out to get an iced coffee saw him and since I can't repeat what he said I'll just say that he was quite mad at my father for not walking.

When he got back to the extra tent he received a STANDING OVATION. Let me tell you guys he was on top of the world.

He's feeling much better today and hopefully will go to the VA on monday.

Sorry it took so long to update for you guys it's been hectic around here lately.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

I'm sure we'll get a couple of fires even though, fireworks are banned in the county, except in certain areas.

It is humid. I just cut the grass. Have a few clouds rolling in, I am hoping that we get a shower sometime today.

...and I just realized I am out of beer.

Brenda,

Thanks for the kind words. The boys are fraternal twins. M y daughter went home today.

Cloudy and windy, but around 80 degrees here in Reno.

Went to Lake Tahoe last night and watched the Kings Beach Fireworks. It was a fabulous show. Spent the evening at a friends cabin before driving back to reno this morning.

I'm from Illinois on a good day, I know humidity well. I have become too acclimated to this place. The humidy hits 20% and I start complaining that it is sticky. I feel like such a wuss. I don't think the humidity ever gets that low back home.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Yep we went back east to Pa, one summer when I was a kid. OMG, it was over 4th of July, 90 degrees with at least 70-80% humidity. Never dried off!! I never knew what it meant "dry heat" until then. definately have a new appreciation for it now!!!

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Mooch, glad your dad got to have that top of the world feeling. Hope the stress test comes out ok. Hang in there and don't let the VA screw you guys over.

Becky, how dare you run out on a day such as this. What's next, no coffee in the house? Someone needs to get on the ball with shopping.

There were still fireworks but only at a few designated areas yet the yahoos around the neighborhoods were blasting away....Fire danger EXTREME. idiots.
Today I dont see any clouds humid yess 110 probably. Gonna go shopping at the LFS for a new water test kit. I think my reagents are too old. I feel water chagnes comming on...

Re: OT: How's the weather?

It's 68 here with 91% humid. Very sticky indeed. No sun though..kinda just a hang around and do nothing day. Becky I did put the refugium mud in last night I haven't turned the tank on yet to see how much is going to come up but I put the whole bag in. Should be interesting...maybe I'll go to a LFS and get some refugium rock.
