Supposed to be in the mid-80's here for the next few days...YAY! That's down about 20 degrees from last weekend. MUCH needed relief.

Hello all,
Went to the VA today for my very first visit...met with a buerocrat (sp?) and that just asked stooopid questions. A most unenjoyable visit. Basically the reason I had to go today was because in my award letter they said I haven't been in a long time and they needed to re-evaluate to see if I deserve more money. Could be anywhere from 30-100%...the hundreds a strech and quite honestly if I got that much I would be happy at first but then the realization that guys that have got limbs blown to pieces of TBI's didn't get that much so honestly I'll settle for what I get. Also took my picture for my VA card. Now anyone that has VA benefits could you help me out. Basically unless your a combat vet, you have to be in for 24 months to get medical. I was only in for about 10. But in theory I didn't leave on my own so I could have done the 24, and then some for that matter, I just wasn't suited for duty. Supposdely there's this rule about being in for 24 months and stuff and if your in for less you can only recive treatment for your service connected disability. However it's not like I wanted to leave. I really hate the VA sometimes.

Anyway, WEATHER. Its a cool 61 out the wind is blowing at a pretty decent pace and rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week. I would actually prefer some of your higher temps.

Mooch, I can't help ya with the VA issues. I've NEVER dealt with them, and NEVER will.
My neighbor used to be the local Employment Department's Vet Rep, and is himself a 100% disabled vet. He helped my son quite a bit when he got out, and IIRC, the VA first gave my son 10%, but with my neighbor's help, he's up to about 50% and the rate is slowly increasing. You may want to talk to the vet rep at your local state employment office. They're usually pretty good sources of information on the subject, and MOST are willing to help you with VA related problems.

Boomer are you talking about the the military liaison at a senator office..he's the one that actually pushed me to the head of the line..I was going to have to wait for an appeal, thanks to him I didn't. I don't know of any military reps other than him. Maybe I just don't know where to look.

Becky nope I was getting zilch from the military..not even my stinking GI Bill. I was getting all my medial from Medacaid.

No, but that's a GREAT resource you have there...your local state employment office should have a Veteran's Rep to help vets get employment after their service. MOST are also well schooled in dealing with the VA.

Just call the one local to you and ask for their veteran's representative.

It's about 88 right now with a high uv index. Olivia and I went outside to feed the fish and I think I got tanlines. Our goldfish look weird, well, one does. It's turned completely white.
