Re: OT: How's the weather?

Nice touch to the place. I was planning on getting to a water change today but got hammered with calls and heat yesterday/early this am. Maybe sometime this week. I tried to take advantage of the AC today, probably about 100 or so outside.

I haven't needed to do surgery on the gsp in a long time. I fragged a piece and it hasn't grown but still comes out with the light. Everything else is growing like crazy.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Military housing...ain't it wonderful? My dad was career USAF. Westover AFB Massachucetts, Fairchild AFB, Washington, Kadena AFB, Okinawa were all my homes at one time or another...then I enlisted and lived in barracks for part of my time in the Corps...except for the 22 months in Vietnam. The barracks were an improvement over that.

On the weather front, it maxed at 104 here today. Pretty close to setting another record I think.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Why yes, Boomer. I live in a brand new shell. They are put up quickly with plenty of flaws. Let's forget that my master bathroom's walls are uneven for a second. When I moved in, the brand new heater conked out...well, partially. Every time the wind blew, I was sans heat. How long did it take to fix? A year. Half of the problem was that the utility closet door doesn't fit the frame, so the dang thing would blow open. That was remedied about a week after the heater was fixed. Why? One day a neighbor came by and asked me if I knew I had a fountain of water gushing between the houses and was flooding out the neighbors' backyards. Why, no! I don't hang out anywhere near that side of the house...there is nothing back there. We had a wind storm the night before. Blew the dang door off the hinges smacked into the backyard irrigation system. BINGO! I get a latch. They sloppily caulked the place, so last year around this time I was invaded 3 times a week by ants while I worked to seal this place. It was a real PITA. The exterminators can spray all they want outside, but the bozos live between the walls. Now, monsoon season. My backdoor leaks whenever the winds hit it just so during a nasty bout (reminds me...they never fixed it and I am due to be elsewhere for a couple of weeks in the middle of that crap. If my congressman wasn't running for president, I could probably get the matter cleared up quickly. He is busy right now.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Officially it hit 105 again today...<phew the A/C worked well though>

I'm looking forward to cooler temps.

Diane, the Arizona heat is one reason why we've never considered living there. My brother-in-law built houses in Tempe 20 or so years ago...just too hot.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

It was a gorgeous weekend. Tommy and I hosted a cookout at the beach for his local union. About 80 people showed up but there was still about 30lbs of crayfish left. Everything went awesome and he even racked up points with the BA whch is always good. It's supposed to be even more beautiful today, but I woke up having an allergic reaction to something so I had to send Tommy to the store to get some Benadryl. My lips swelled up huge, I was itchy and it was hard to breathe. I took 2 Benadryl and 2 hours later, I'm fine bu super tired. Unfortunately I've got to go to the orthodontist today. Yippee...riiiiiight.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Hot yesterday, went shopping to escape the heat. BassPro Shop opened last year and I'd never been so took a trip over there. They have a restaraunt with a huge tropical fish tank - 13,000 gallons with a cement reef and fake corals but nice fish. They have 2 large lion fish, panther grouper, moorish idols, tangs and angels, among others... I will go back and take pics but I'm not eating there again - they forgot to bring my food, we asked the waitress where it was and she asked if I wanted it reheated or remade....

Re: OT: How's the weather?

Becky I have to say I love your Decor as well...I've been living in my apt. for 3 years...almost 4 and don't have anything that nice...although when I was on base they said my barracks was the cleanest and nicest even compared to the barracks that was called "the hotel" I do take good care of my houses and also take pride in them.

BTW I remember when you had those problems with the heat and flood...have I really been on these sites that long??? I love the quote before the beer cooler..sounds vaguely like something I"ve heard before LOL. Also what is a GSB

Nikki, glad your allergy quit and it's good to hear your still able to do something outside the house...tell me is a crawfish a shirmp or what?

Re: OT: How's the weather?

I would cry if we had to go to Yuma. I've seen the place and it made me stop complaining about El Paso for about 5 minutes.

GSP=green star polyp.

The Bass Pro I stop by on the way home has several large aquariums...no tropical fish. We are talking bass, blue gill, snapping turtles.

Re: OT: How's the weather?

It's nice out this morning, but still gonna get warm. Not supposed to be so hot today though.

Bass Pro is building a shop about 15 miles up the road from us. I'm not that much of a fisherman anymore, but I'll still make the trip just to see what they've got.

you know I have a bass pro shop kinda near me...about 45 minutes or so...I really have no reason to go their but if I'm ever in Foxboro again I may just check it out.

BTW weather here is kinda cool. 60 and breezy. Made me close the windows to all but a crack..have the fleece going.

I also have a dentist appt today..think I lost some fillings due to those miserable lil SOB jolly ranchers. BTW have I ever said I hate the dentist (not you scott...I'm sure your an excellent dentist buy mine poke and prod too much)
