| Manta Ray | Re: OT: How's the weather? Thanks Mike! And yes, sooner or later I will have to cut back my stoagie puffin crap to strip poker nights, because it is just not healthy. My grandmother has serious issue as a smoker and teeny veins. Just had surgery because her circulation was bad. The doc said that much of it could be attributed to smoking and that he wasn't even going to mess with her unless she was going to quit. Well, she had the surgery, felt better and started smoking again. She is going to die an uncomfortable death. Guess who else has small veins? I hang my head in shame. Emphazema is nasty business. I remember hanging out at my best friend's house to her dad sneaking smokes and gagging all over the place. He was dead less than 10 years later. If you (and that is anyone here) ever get a chance to hang out in DC, check out their medical museum...Nothing like looking at unhealthy lungs. |

| Reef Lobster | Re: OT: How's the weather? Thanks guys for all of your understanding, (esp. you Becky...I thought you may just grab the first flight out and put a big Ol Texas sized boot up my behind) I feel bad that you feel like your giving up..believe me I couldn't have even tried without your help. Good to go on the outside stuff (esp. for Becky I keep forgetting she has kids) Although my parents smoked THE DAY I CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL (Born) But that's a whole different ball of wax. Bob thanks for the pic...pretty darn funny. Boomer you know what's ironic? I had never tried smokes until the Corps. My roommate in the stumps did everything Pipes, Cigars, Skoal, the whole nine yards..and me trying to get to know him...well lets just say he was the one that brought me to "the darkside" Speaking of dark..its dark as heck here tonight...no moon, no stars nuthin. its 50 out and it seems colder...may have to turn the thermostat up.

| Ricordea | Re: OT: How's the weather? Stogies AND poker... wow. I am impressed. You should check out the Bodies exhibit that has been floating around the country. They put some sort of plastic in the to preserve them and then put the bodies on display. Very cool. And not too over the top on A&P for the kids, easy to understand. Mooch-wish I had the weather you are having. I have to put the ac on just to get to sleep. |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: OT: How's the weather? Mooch, my folks smoked when I was a kid. I smoked some before the Corps, but not at all during my time in the Corps. Smell of a cigarette carries WAY too far in the bush. After I got out and into my apprenticeship, I started again...and other than a couple of breaks, have smoked since 1973.

| Golden Moray | Re: OT: How's the weather? In one of my anatomy classes we got to see a "smoker" pig's lungs. It simulated 10 years of smoking and was full of tumors. They were hooked up to this machine that simulated breathing by pushing air into them and making them inflate. Then they had a set of "non-smoker". The smoker pig's lung capacity was less than half of the non-smoker pig. Not to mention the fact that the smoker pig's lungs were all black and literally stinky.

| Achilles Tang | Re: OT: How's the weather? Was hot here yesterday - have to go to a baby shower today (not my favorite thing to do by a long shot) should be cooler at my moms (where the shower is) but they do not have air either.... trying to keep the tank cool is getting to be a challenge.. the fuge etc.. sits in the garage and it gets rally hot. Tank right now is 80...

| Manta Ray | Re: OT: How's the weather? Sun is back today. Supposed to be a chilifest of sorts on Post. I might have to check it out. My dad used to smoke. The reason I cannot smoke in this house, is because military housing said no. I can see why after watching my mom clean the walls in the house when I was a kid. It was a habit I easily picked up in college. Still one of the best ways to cure a good panic attack. Luckily after a couple of years, I easily put it down. But the stoagies got me...Cubans especially. Unfortunately, they cost $30 a piece where we were getting them from. I have one left and it may be a fight over who gets it at this house. |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: OT: How's the weather? I LOCE me some good Cuban Cee-Gars...Monte Cristos...MMMMMMMM I used to smoke cigars on a regular basis, but since I DO inhale...they are even worse for me than cigarettes. (IIRC, a cigar is equal to about 70 cigarettes) But if I had a steady supply of Cubans...heck, I might give up the Reds.

| Achilles Tang | Re: OT: How's the weather? LOL - wont keep the heat out of the garage... I think that's where my problem will be this summer. The downstairs part of the house - even without air isn't too bad. The garage just cooks, and upstairs is pretty hot. I think my only solution to keep the tank at consistent temp is to get the chiller. Either that or remodel the garage - I think the chiller will be cheaper!!

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: OT: How's the weather? I could never have put my sump in the garage either. During the summer, it gets over 120 in there. (Over 150 in the attic!) Chillers...the gift that keeps on costing!

| Achilles Tang | Re: OT: How's the weather? Yeah - not the best place for it!! There just wasn't enough room under the cabinet to put a good fuge/sump. Good thing is that with this much water - 450 gallons, it takes awhile to heat up. I can open the garage door, the door from the garage to the house and the slider and get a pretty decent breeze. As long as I close off the right part of the house at the right time it helps with the temp.

| Reef Lobster | Re: OT: How's the weather? I couldnt put anything living in my garage in the summer. My house is like stephs-stays cool in the lower level and gets warmer on the main level and too warm upstairs. I have fans on the tanks in the warmer areas but then the evaporation rate is high. Someone needs to invent great lights that dont put out heat.
