Re: OT Got some new additions

Here are some not so great pics of the Black Pakistan Cobras. They are the best I could get without a sceond handler to keep the snake occupied.

Wow! Very impressive "Critters".

What do you "do" with them? I mean they're not for "personal pets" are they? Seems like the permits and such would be too much for just a "Pet".

Beautiful creatures for sure! WOW!!

This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: OT Got some new additions

Their not as bad as the movies and discovery type shows make them out to be. They are dangerous but are typically no more aggressive than your average black snake. Like anything there are exceptions to the rules and each snake has it's own personality.

Using the proper tools and techniques and alot of practice they are easily managed. Although to people that have never used hooks, tongs, ect. May not find it so easy. Takes concentration and training not a jump into hobby for sure.

Re: OT Got some new additions

Oh I agree totally. I've had a run in with a black snake (many years ago) and the infection was VERY nasty!!

Re: OT Got some new additions

I love the "Puff". I have always LOVED Snakes, and reptiles in general, but that puff adder does it for me.
I am very impressed with your snakes. Unfortunately the most "dangerous" snake I have ever had was a coral snake. Since I was 5 I have kept pet snakes. I have had several pet copperheads. These snakes really freak people out but they are not very aggressive, once captured.
Again, I am very jealous.

I do not keep AV due to cost and short shelf life.

Re: OT Got some new additions

Whoa. Nice snakes. Remind me not to come visit

They're beautiful creatures but not my cup 'o tea is all. Thanks for the pics, though, love looking. So how did you get into venomous guys anyway? How hard is it to get them and keep them in PA? Ever been bit bad? Who do you sell to anyway?

Sorry... I'm curious.

Re: OT Got some new additions

It is pretty easy to get venomous snakes in Pa. There is also a decent market for them. There is not particular crowd in venomous. I have seen punk kids to older men and even suits buying venomous snakes. I was a punk kid buying my fist hot once as well.

Go ahead and ask me what my most painful and sickening trip to the ER was.... go ahead... I'll give you a hint... rhymes with Stopper Lead Trust me when I say "Even a cold snake on a fall morning IS quicker than my reflexes were!" I went to catch "it" and it decided it didn't like that idea. Yeah made for a rough night and rough 2 weeks. Luckily it was only an "allergic" reaction (I'm allergic to everything) and only cost me a BOAT load of money. Apparently "Anti-Venom" is PRECIOUS! I think the 2 shots were 5K each. It's been a long time ago so no telling what that would translate to in today's market. Unfortunately my friends over-reacted and killed the snake for "Positive ID" even though I ID'd it before I "approached" it.

Hey if it CAN happen it WILL happen to Allen
