Landing scheduled for 9:06am with everything looking good. If you'r in FL be ready for the double boom.
On an interresting note hubby is flying back from Houston on the company jet at the same time. May I hope he can see it. AND get me pics.

Also note that tonight they are potentially going to attempt to shoot down that satellite and it's a Lunar Eclipse! Look UP PEOPLE!

Interresting things happening in the sky.
Landing went peerfectly from initial reports.
I'll talk to hubby in a bit and see if he saw anything super cool. He had orders to take pics if he did.

Well I forgot to update you guys on the next lauch but we just had a picture perfect landing. Funny thing is I forgot all about it until the double sonic boom reminded me.

I think it's a real shame they are retiring the shuttle fleet. It's replacement looks like a step back into the 60's...

I agree but I amy be a bit prejudiced since my husband will lose his job when the program ends.
I really is a major step back. Almost everything they are using on the new vehicle comes from the Apollo days. Same engine, tanks, return everythiing. They are putting in some new computers but that is about it.
No more returnable vehicle.

Unfortunately none from the plane he was in. He tried to get some but they didn't come out at all.
I'll find some other cool shots he has taken and post them.
Do you know that to mate the orbiter to the external tank they lift it with a giant crane? It takes hours for it to stop swinging so they can work on it.

Sounds like your husband has my DREAM job. I always wanted to get involved with space exploration. He is a VERY lucky man! Oh yeah, he also has a really cool job.
