Yeah, last night was confusing all right.

Troy,
To make the channel non +i in MIRC, just join the #reefsanctuary channel, right click anywhere in the text window, select 'Channel Modes', then uncheck the box that says 'invite only'.
That should fix the problem.

Also, the +i mode may have been inadvertantly set while you and brian were trying to figure out how to get you back into the room.

[edit: explanation removed]

OK...I've been holding back, but I really don't think it is appropriate to post all the in's and out's of what happened. Just letting everyone know there was an issue that is solved is sufficient. Just my $0.07 . Mods feel free to edit or delete this post as you see necessary.

Hrm... you held back til I posted so that must be somewhat directed my way...
I just tried to give a blanket explanation of what happened... sorry to offend.
Wasn't trying to step on anybody's toes with that...

David.

Ok, what happened was not on purpose. Nothing to get uptight about either. (Nikki -this is not directed at you or anyone else)
We are trying to fix the invite only portion now.
as you all probably know we are not the smartest one on the block when it comes to chat rooms. but, we are learning quickly. Just seems not quick enough. I have figured out how to fix the problem it is just that it takes someone higher up the ladder than a mod to exicute the fix.
Sorry for any inconvience.

No - you must have misinterpreted what I was saying. I was holding back stating that the particulars of what happened should not be open for public - I saw it going in this direction, and wanted to pipe up sooner, but didn't. In my eyes, all that needed to be stated was sorry, there was an issue, we are working on it, and it will be resolved. Also, I guess if there needed to be an explaination it should come from a staff member. I have a few other issues that I made known to a couple of mods, and hopefully will be addressed.

Hey everyone,

I truly apologize for all the confusion. It seems that all the "fun" happened after I left the roon.

In any case, I just finished reading through the logs, and it looked like Troy got banned inadvertently, and there was some confusion as to how & why, so until it was figured out, Curt was asking ppl to leave, as he was concerned about who might be controlling the room at the point.

At least that is my understanding - I could be completely wrong. ;-)

I'm not sure how the channel got set to invite only, but I changed that, and it should now be open to everyone.

We'll get a handle on this chat stuff sooner or later. Thank you to everyone for your patience, and for all the mods for having the members' best interests in mind last night.

Wow I didn't mean to stir up this much crap. I apologize. I was just wondering what was going on and Curt PM'ed me about the mess and everything should be cool, right?

I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back to this thread. I buried a dear friend today. This morning I was scrambling to answer PM's before leaving the office for the visitation and the funeral.

I probably won't be around much longer. However, thanks for the condolences. I just wanted everyone to know why I wasn't responding. I had some things to do today that were more important than reef tanks.
