OT: Things We Make!

Being the crafty person I am always on the look out for new things to make and do. I enjoy all types of woodworking, from making yard ornaments to the daintiest scroll saw designs. Needlework is also a favorite from crocheting to cross stitch and quilts. Just don't ask me to make a dress. I really dislike that type of sewing!Woodburning, leather work, weaving beads into designs, macrame, you name it I have pretty much done it. When I can't be crafty I have some real antsy issues. That is my outlet, my way to relax. I believe that is another reason why the tank helped me in my healing process. I was able to be crafty without having to use my hands. I was able to tell Jack where to move rock and where to put corals and I was creating through him. Anyway, enough of that garbage.

After over a year and a half of not being able to use a saw and be as creative as I used to be I am beginning to be able to do a little more. I have help because I still can't lift things and my hands tire very easily, but with time and help I can finally do more, I can paint and make all the markings for cutting and I can draw. I'm just not telling you how long it takes me to complete something. It requires a lot of getting up and down and moving around! Anyway, I know there has got to be other people here that make things for the holidays or just things to make for others and I am always on the look out for something new so show us what you made:

Many of my pictures are from years ago. I have one from in the 80's.. boy was I skinny!

I will actually start with something I hate doing and that is cooking. This was a cake that I made after the accident. Everyone loves my Black Forest Cake and I thought I would be able to make one for a dinner I was going to and it was my first attempt at baking without help. You will love this, my flop! Needless to say the cake stayed home and I stopped and bought a bottle of wine and some pre-made fruit salad for dessert.

OK, I will stop there for now and when I get back I hope to see pictures of other's crafty things.

Re: OT: Things We Make!

This was an afghan I made back in the 80's. This picture was actually featured in a National Crochet Magazine. This was one of my favorite afghans. Still have the pattern if there are any interested crocheters out there. It is done with an afghan stitch and then cross stitched. Old picture that went through a lot.

This is also an older piece. It is cross stitched on a sweat shirt.

Now we are getting into wood thigns...Guess you can guess what holiday the next thing was made for..

Well more to come, anxious for others to chime in with their creations.

Very nice. Beautiful. I am impressed ! I can't do too much cross stitch anymore, the eyes don't see like they used to and the hands are an issue also. I have a beautiful pattern I was working on for my daughter, she loves dragons and this one was on linen and was a dragon in the swiss alps and a boy , he was telling the dragon a story. Called the story teller.
These are counted cross stitch.

Re: OT: Things We Make!

The last thing my husband and I made together, I did all the cutting and we both did the wood burning.

Very nice Heinz, that is something I haven't yet tried.

Re: OT: Things We Make!

I bought one of those 7ft metal trees ( just made of lights ) for your yard. I liked it but thought it would be better in a group, so I made one. I used an old music stand ( were the **** did THAT come from!? ) and put about 15 stakes in a circle in the yard. I used some steel rod cut into 8in pieces, bent into a J. I set the sand in the middle of the circle, I reduced the stand to a pole with a trileg setup. I strung lights ( 3 strings ) from stake to the top of the pole to the next stake to the pole to next stake and so on. Works nice, need to make another...
