| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: OT: The big swap I really like this tank! Robert, I see you opt out of drilling it so far for a closed loop. I am curious if this predicts the corals you will be keeping or adding power heads. Are you going for the sps garden or a mixed tank? I really like the overflow also. This is going to be a fun tank to watch over time!

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: OT: The big swap It is if it hasn't been tempered. But i would assume Booze would have had it drilled by Elos considering the cost of such an aquarium. I don't think that is in his plans.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: OT: The big swap Guess by Boozes signature I'm gonna guess he will have 2xVortechs and 2xTunzes for circulation ![]() Now there is a video somewhere of another guy with an Elos 120 I believe with 2 vortechs facing each other at opposite ends of the tank and has the controller set up to where he got a pretty cool wave action going in his tank.... Any thoughts on that booze?

| The CodFather ~ | Re: OT: The big swap thanks again guys...early on in my plans I had opted not to go with a closed loop. This was done in order to maintain the clean lines of the tank. I knew that the wireless controllers for the vortecs were being developed . The biotopus has firmware to control tunze as well. I believe this combination to be better suited for my plans.. The power heads can be easily hidden without leaving the visible holes along the back wall that a closed loop would've had. As mike noted in my sig. two vortechs, two tunzes and two Red Dragons will give me a heck of a lot of flow! The tank will have a lot of sps...but I do like rics and zoas too, so I may have to tone down the flow a bit ![]() sorry to dissapoint but now is a very busy time of year at work (thanksgiving+christmas+newyears = booze) so it may be still a lil longer before it gets wet ![]()

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: OT: The big swap Boozie? can you ask elos what exactly the glass is they use, seems to be quite a difference between crystal and starfire? Quote from a glass manufacturer What is Crystal Glass? Crystal (high quality glass), according to EU definition, must have an index of refraction of at least 1.520 and a density of at least 2.45kg/l. Lead crystal must contain lead oxide to a level of at least ten percent. Other glass used for stemware can also contain oxides of potassium, zinc or barium. Lead glass is potassium silicate glass which has been impregnated with lead oxide (from 10% to 28% by weight) in its fabrication. In the case of stemware and decorative glass the goal of the lead is twofold. To increase the refractive index of the glass, and thus its lustre, or sparkle and to soften the glass to enable cutting for decoration Lead oxide added to the molten glass which gives lead crystal a much higher index of refraction than normal glass, and consequently much greater "sparkle". Common glass contains about 70% silicon dioxide (silica), which is the same chemical compound found in quartz, and its polycrystalline form, sand. For non-lead crystal, pure silica has a melting point of about 2000 °C (3600 °F), and while it can be made into glass for special applications, two other substances are always added to common glass to simplify processing. One is soda (sodium carbonate), or potash (potassium carbonate), which lowers the melting point to about 1000 °C (1800 °F). However, the soda makes the glass water-soluble, which is usually undesirable, so lime (calcium oxide) is the third component, added to restore insolubility. The resulting glass contains about 70% silica and is called a soda-lime glass. Soda-lime glasses account for about 90% of manufactured glass worldwide. Boron may be added to change the thermal and electrical properties, as in Pyrex. Adding barium instead of lead increases the refractive index in a similar way to lead.

| The CodFather ~ | Re: OT: The big swap I can answer that Steve..starphire is an actual trade marked name belonging to PPG. Crystal is the European equivalent....but just in case there is more to it, I will ask ![]()
