Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

After I dropped my daughter off at chorus practice I was contemplating what I should do, go home, or perhaps go get some supplies for some projects. While trying to make this decision I saw a sign in the distance, like a beacon in the night it called to me, beckoning……

Suddenly it was like auto pilot had kicked in and my car turned toward the light. With tires squealing I skidded into the parking lot. I cruised through the parking lot looking for a good place to park, having a “classic” I must be careful. Finally I found a spot away from everyone and I parked slightly angled so no one else could park next to me and scratch my beautiful paint job.

Upon entering the store I was undecided about which place I wanted to go first, there are so many fun things in hardware stores! I love em! Well, guess what won out, naturally reef related…..looky here, doesn’t this stuff look familiar?

Next section, lumber…here are the timbers that the Santas and scare crows are made from, next you will see some candy canes and penguins made from these same timbers.

Oh look it is Santas tool area ……every wood crafter’s dream , a saw for everything….

After walking through this section I heard the faint sound of tapping. I walked closer to the shelves and underneath I saw the elves busily making the decorations and toys. Every so often a little elf running out to put something on the shelf.

By this time my knees were aching and I felt like I couldn’t walk
another step when I saw two small horses saddled and ready to go.

I jumped up on the black one and I rode to the back of the store, making my way in the direction of my car. We went through the garden section and stopped to look at the flowers.

The last stop was by the trees where I was greeted by another little elf who informed me that the horse had to return to his place so as not to alarm the employees. I looked at all the trees taking in deep breaths to smell the familiar scent of Christmas. The scent was not there so I returned to find my car and made my way home again.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

he he he! My little one might gte one of those very horses from Santa... and Oh! I miss having a real tree in the house. But with the cat and MIke's nose and the needle shedding, a fake one is OK with a little of that scented pine junk on it.

You know, I think that's the first time I've seen HD at night...

Actually Kathy, I have one that I made and painted. ....Wait til you see this year's edition, if I have time to get one made....

Cool beans Craig, love the Douglas Firs... I won't have a real tree again this year...I will go to my boxes of decorations and pull out the table top fiber optic tree. 2nd time in my life I didn't have a real one. Maybe next year.

Kathy, did you see the Butterscotch pony? That pony is the "bomb", boy if I was a little girl that would be the one! Regardless, a pony was a pony when I was little, didn't matter if it was a head on a broom stick... Your little one will be thrilled. What a fun age!

Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

That's awesome, I love the santa motorcyclist!! I'd have one on the roof if Mike'd let me.

That Butterscotch is neat, but Mike and I talked about it... it's cool but it'd become one of those big toys that take up space that she never plays with after the novelty wears off. If it actually walked with her on it I might be getting it.

I "talked" her into a spring pony, one of the ones you used to try and rattle your teeth on? She's got TONS of energy and I think it'll last well past the Xmas glitter. I also got her one of those exercise bike/video game doohickeys... you have to pedal to make the game work sort of. Again, coordination combined with an energy drain, all good for Mommy!!!!

hey, this sound slike another OT thread...

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Thanks for the update Cat.
I'll sleep better knowing you made it out alive. lol
Slightly saddened you didn't get a pony.

People at Home Depot must have been staring at the strange lady taking a photo safari in Home Depot.
Sure it happens in paint and tile for color matching. But not usually in lighting of eggcrate. lol

Ahhh, Home Depot knows me so well it isn't funny. Seriously I walk in and they say "Hi Cat, How are you?" They know when they see me that there may be some strange things happening in their store.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

OMG, when Jack and I were doing the remods to the house we were always in there laying tiles on the floor, carrying paneling to the tile section, bringing the paint thingies there, and Jack or I climbing up their ladders to take pictures of the lay out. They didn't appreciate that, but they got to where they turned their heads.
Not to mention the time when my daughter and her friend went with me and we sat in one of the displays (mesh tents)acting like we were mannequins.

Well some cool stuff today, but the sad part about it is that they are encaged, well maybe it isn't sad because I might have been carried off to be raised as a wolf cub, or is it cubette? Have to upload and then go get my daughter so this may not take place until later.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Well this morning started out the usual way, take daughter to school find a place to walk, take pictures, blah blah blah, same routine. It was until I remembered a place my husband had discovered. Remember I told you I like signs too? Well, check this one out...are you catching it or do I have to point it out?

Anyway I am assuming the name of the road was given for the pictures you are about to see. The kennels these guys are in are quite large and very clean I only cropped the pictures to get better shots of the wolves. (In my mind I just heard and saw my husband snickering at me because I say "woof" / "woofs" )
Very pretty animals with special looking eyes. Something about a wolf's eyes. I love them. They look wise, like they are looking into your soul, your inner self. OK, don't send the guys with straight jackets for me yet, I'm not done posting.

Now onto: Walking WIth Wolves! Oh sorry, Woofs!

After I left there I went to Home Depot again and look at who I found in the parking lot, my friend Johnathan the gull and he brought some friends with him. I guess they were looking for me! ????

I know today's walk wasn't real exciting, but the woofs are pretty!

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Yeah! Jonathan's back! And he brought a friend.

Woofs are cool. They always look like they know something important we don't.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cages. If it hadn't been for the cage they wouldn't have been able to re-release them back into the state park's like Yosemite. They appear to be doing quite well from all reports.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Cool, wolves! I saw a red wolf not to long ago crossing the road here in Charleston. It really pleased me to see it because back in the 80's i was a big supporter of helping to reestablish the population here in the south. I'll have to dig out the old animal rights movement pictures and post them here one day.
It was nice to get a different prospective on a place i now dread, Home Depot. I am glad Johnathan is hanging out too!
