Beautiful pic cat. It is getting to be a beautiful time of year around here as well. In about a week or two, I will post some pics.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

I think I am at a stand still for now because I sure can't find the gators, cranes, or the otters. They are here some where.

Don't know if I am going to make the walk tomorrow morning or not...there is a pressure system moving in that has me in A LOT of pain tonight. I think right now if they wanted to amputate my hands I would let them. Have therapy tomorrow a.m. and then I have a new place I saw the other day that I want to go to. I thin I will see a lot of neat things at the new place. Hope I can go tomorrow. Anyway, there are gator pics and others still to come when I find them.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Hey Cat, have you ever tried cold wraps? There was this show on a long time ago, NOVA maybe, about hot anc cold therapy on various types of aches and pains, like unjuries, arthritis, joint stuff, etc.... my grandfather had arthritis real bad and he saw it and tried the cold wrap on his hands. He swore by it, he'd get that pain before rain as well and it was bad. The cold helped more than the hot wraps ever did.

BTW. I'm stopping by. Rudely inviting myself. I wanna rub a manatee. you couldn't get my daughter and me away from teh ray tank at Sea World. Mike almost had to carry us.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Nice pics Cat.

Manatees are one of my favorite animals. We don't have too many of them where I live, but we did see one out in the gulf one day just a lil ways out past the 2nd sandbar. Usually all we see are dolphins.

Anyway beautiful pics

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Awesome pictures Cat I just got caught up here, Those manatees are so cool, I'm so used to being on a freshwater lake, so when we first started going down to florida, I had and still have this "big water, big animals" phobia... can't really explain it I guess, but I don't like knowing there are critters in the water twice the size of me or bigger... We have a neighbor down there that was feeding the manatees heads of lettuce, so i guess they seem friendly enough Can't wait to see the next walk's picutres !

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Today's walk was extended a bit into another area. I started out in the one place I have been regularly visiting, but on the way home I stopped at a different place so see what I could find there. I took a few pictures of things I had taken previously as Mother Nature had since changed things. There were a few more flowers that weren't there before and there was one lily pad bud that had opened. If you look back you will see the bud and then the picture I have today is the flower.

Hey look some of you have these growing for your tanks....

Now as I was walking around today I felt like something was following me and I would feel the ground shudder a bit, and hear twigs breaking, as I walked around the corner and peered through the brush I saw these BIG green toes with legs attached, my eyes slowly followed the lines of the figure before me and when I looked up

Well, I walked away as fast as I could. I ducked and crawled under trees and brush. I finally reached a building where I was able to stop and I leaned against the building to catch my breath when I looked next to me I saw another odd creature, something that isn't seen that often anymore. I was beginning to think I had some how gone through several time warps.

I remember when these things were on every street corner. Well, out of curiosity I picked the thing up to see if there was a dial tone and when I did I was transported to another place. Alright, maybe that didn't happen, but I did walk to my car and go to a different place and those pictures are being uploaded as we speak.

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

Since I stopped with the mangroves I guess I Will begin with a sign I saw at the next stop.

Funny how we have to have signs for everything out in nature. In Pensacola the signs are on the beach about the sea turtles and sea oats...never ending. Which by the way signs are another thing I take pictures of, there are many strange ones I have seen over the years on our many "bike" runs. One of my favorites was "You are entering a weed and seed community" Anyway onto the nature show...

The next shot is of the train trustle over the water, just so happens they were nice enough to provide the train when I arrived.

After cruising through all of these places, looking at things, feeling in tune with nature I come across a huge pole and I saw a little sign on it. When I first read it I thought nah, that can't say what I think it says...so I get closer and lo and behold it does say what I thought it said...well needless to say by this time after drinking so much water and already having to go to the bathroom I really didn't need to laugh about this and the different things that popped in my mind, had I laughed as hard as I wanted I probably would have been featured on ipeedmypants.com May not be many who laugh like I did but at the time it was just really funny. Maybe I just needed to laugh....

Re: OT: Take Time To Smell the Roses

The funny thing about a cant hole is that once you insert your rod into it you usually have two guys holding on to the rod...

It's actually used to orient the pole while it's being set in the ground... how funny though!!!
