| Manta Ray | Re: OT: Men of RS Thread... I've never been able to smoke, pipes or otherwise (asthma) but my step father does. I love the smell of pipe tobacco. I've given him some really nice pipes for Christmas. Last year I gave him a handcarved elephant pipestand and an 1840's handcarved pipe from England. He was genuinely thrilled it seemed.

Seems im in with the crowd in down town Charleston! I really didn't think it was going to last at all. I bought a pipe in memory of Robert Jordan after he died. It was his hobby collecting them. He is my favorite author. But three weeks later there i was buying tobacco after running out! The strange thing was this old tobacco store/lounge was his stomping grounds i found out! He would read poetry there. It was a very cool experience i had today and made a few new friends.

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: OT: Men of RS Thread... 38 here. I figured we were close in age. That's why I said it wasn't a slam. Growing up I know it was an old man thing, but these days there are no barriers. Got any pics of the store? I've been reading Jordan's novels for years. If it wasn't for your post I wouldn't have know he had died. I've been waiting for the next book. I couldn't figure out what was taking so long. sigh Isn't Charleston kind of the birthplace of tobacco in the U.S.?

| Manta Ray | Re: OT: Men of RS Thread... Well I'll be darn, Robert Jordan died. After the 9th or 10th book in the Wheel of Time came out I decided I would wait for him to finish the series before I read them all again. Each time one came out I would start again at 1. Now what am I going to do? Is someone else finishing them or did he do it finally. I knew he was sick and was trying to hurry it along. I think I'll google him...
