| Golden Moray | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread I got my front braces on today and spacers in between my molars. I go back in 2 weeks for by back braces. My whole face looks different because my lips are all puffed out. My teeth are starting to hurt some but they're making my head hurt worse. I'm thinking that it might be time for a nap for me and Livi. The good news is that I should lose a few pounds at the beginning.

| Madame Klanganator | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread I remember when Andrea had her braces on the first day. She didn't feel good! Hope you feel better soon. Andrea had hers put on in 8th grade and wore them until right before her senior year. It was a looonnng time but her teeth are SO beautiful, and still never a cavity! If you want a good toothbrush that makes keeping them clean very easy, get a Sonicare. They are wonderful! I just replaced Andrea's first one a couple of months ago... she used it since the beginning of her braces... that's NINE years it lasted. Pretty good! And, if you get the basic one the price isn't too bad at all now. I paid almost $200 for it way back then because it was the "new" thing.

| Golden Moray | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread Thanks Barb. I don't know why someone would willingly do this to themselves. Yeah, ok, I willingly did this to myself but our insurance is amazing so this is the first chance we've had to get my teeth fixed. They're not that bad at all, I just have an overbite. The orthodontist said it would take 18-24 months which isn't that bad. He also said that there's a chance that I would need to have 2 teeth pulled to make room for the rest of my teeth. Hopefully that won't be the case. I wanted to get ceramic braces so they weren't as noticable, but they're a lot more expensive and since they won't be on that ong I guesiy doesn't really matter. Anyway, soup's for dinner tonight and I have a feeling that I may br trying some of Livi's baby food.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread Hey Nikki, do they stil give you wax to put on the braces for the first few weeks? I had them so long ago it was the stone age. The wax helped the scraping agianst the inside of my mouth though.

| Golden Moray | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread Actually I had a tumor in my hard pallet when I was younger that elongated my hard pallet and pushed all my top teeth forward. The overbite was pretty bad because everything got pushed forward but I didn't really have much space between my teeth. The braces have to push everything back so my bite lines up properly. They gave me a lot of wax to use but, luckily, they don't hurt my mouth yet. My lips are just a little chapped. Tommy thinks I look "cute". I think I look even more like a little kid.

| Manta Ray | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread Today was the first day of the summer reading program. The 4 yr old is participating. Took him to the library. Was going to get him 3 books, but I saw one mom walking out of the library with an armload. Freakin stockpilers, need to get slapped. The competition is always unfair. Last year some 2 year old read 84 books in 8 weeks. Whatever. That little crumbsnatcher stopped paying attention after page 2. Anyway, the library is pretty small. Walked out with 8 books and I am checking all over the catalog for more books. This year's theme is Kings Queen dragons and all that other bs. I am butt deep in Hans Christian Anderson and those doofuses, the Brothers Grimm. Anyone have an exciting title....drop me a line. |

| Manta Ray | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread This mama plays by the rules. I know, I suck. The mother of the 2 year old last year also had a 5 yr old who one in his age range. They get more prizes is all that it amounts to. Really, more important to the mom to dote on her precious kids than anything else. I have no idea how many of the 8 books my oldest will get through before the end of the week when we run back to the library for story time. I've been reading him the story and then we go through some of them again so that he can practice reading. |

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: OT: Women of RS Thread Actually, I have tons and tons of books here for the munchkin. My mother collects with her senior discount from Ross that she is so thrilled about, so Erin gets like 10 to 15 books come Christmas, holidays and birthdays. And my sister is an elementary/early childhood teacher and does the same thing. I have some phonics books from her too. No worries about Erin reading stuff. Right now we're doing "illustrated classics." Did white fang, now we're on black beauty. We do a few chapters every night, they're short. And she rolls over and listens, and just about gets to sleep lisstening to me. We're headed to FLA in a few weeks and the teacher sister has proclaimed that Erin will go home knowing 10 words by sight. "She's not reading yet? You read ot 4." Well I was just a freakin genius I guess.
