Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

Nikki, does Tommy help with the yard?
My husband works from 9-5ish, M-F. Deals with knuckleheads all day. Comes home, eats...plops butt on the couch and plays computer games for the rest of the night. So I get up around 7:30, if the kids allow, cook, clean, do the yard, take care of the kids, then clean some more...most of the time I am worn out. If I could just get 1 1/2 hours a night to his 5 that he takes for himself, I would be in a good place.

(why do you think we're here? remember all the chicken cluck in our thread prior to its demise? remember PRIOR to that when there were no issues?)

second, and back to these minimum requirements.

y'all need to pick op a glove, look skyward, and catch what im throwing down.

WHAT ive been trying to express is i agree that the behavior you're describing is totally weak.

dont know a single, married or tied down guy (well, that id associate with as a homeboy) that doesnt do these things on a daily basis for himself or SO, w/o being asked.

these are simple tasks that honestly should be expected of any adult, man, soldier, husband, bf, father, or son.

i mean, heck a baby? your own seed? wont get up cause its crying? the wives i know wont LET THERE HUSBANDS TEND TO THE BABIES @ 3AM because the babies learn that hell come at the slightest cry, and then its just playtime. so hes back cryin at 4, 5 ,6...

i guess these are just the people i associate with. i guessyou gotta look at a broad sample of husbands and relationships.

I REALLY DONT THINK WHAT YOU LADIES ARE DESCRIBING IS AT ALL, TOO MUCH TO ASK OF YOUR MEN.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

that leaves 3 options.

#1, you ladies done and gone picked yourselves the worst ad'darnd sample of dudes and brodies ever.

#2 Or, you're really blowing this out of proportion. which is very understandable

#3 Or youre dealing with normal the normal human nature associated with 2 distinct individuals living in close proximity with one another. Inwhich, there really isnt a single individual at fault.

i mean life is stressful when you both get home from work all fired and frizzed, and you aint got nothin but more BS to do until its time for sleep. then you gotta try and squeeze personal time w/ eachother, kids (if that may be)

soo you both start boiling and the

"I did it yesterday's" and the

"You're so...s" or the

"I hate it when you..." maybe

"I need to tell you something" (you really need to tell me that you're about to tell me something about something?)

or my fav
"you smell"

and marriage wouldnt work for bob for this reason (3) i am not tolerable over long periods of time. im a werdo. loner. cowboy.

thats all. im not like seriously bitter or nuthin. i just know myself well to not make or PROMISE unreasonable expectations.

and im also a heart breaker.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I've been able to stay married for over 30 years because I have learned a few things...

1) the best way to get in the last word in an argument is to say "Yes Dear."

2) NEVER go to bed mad. You'll only sleep poorly and nothing gets resolved.

3) It's OK to be the boss in your house, as long as you have HER permission to say so.

4) Marriage is like putting two rocks in a box. As it moves along, there are likely to be a few sharp edges that bump against each other from time to time, but they'll wear down if you work at them...Don't let the little bumps irritate you...just wear them off.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I found myself a good man. When I am at work he cleans the house and cooks, always doing yard work, etc. When I am busy with my school work, he takes care of just about everything. Only thing he will not do is take care of the tank, and laundry. So, Guess I am lucky.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

You know though, Bob...I'm going to say 2 things.

First, I wasn't even on the Man Laws thread. I think many people got a kick out of the thread, women included. I enjoyed your equation! I don't want to see us, as a group, get blamed for the closure of that thread. It isn't fair.

Second, I would never say that I married the worst person for me. Pretty strong stuff. Hard to judge one person without judging their other half. Everyone has a role in this kind of bs.

Bob, it is good that you know you, but you probably have a good while to live. I can see you getting hitched, maybe not within this decade...I could be wrong....I can see it though. I think you probably have some very redeemable qualities, but you won't find anyone worth it until you are ready to.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

Laundry has been one of my "jobs" in the house for 20 years. The only time I didn't "get the duty" was when I was working long hours and commuting long distances, and she wasn't working. (Most of our married life she hasn't worked...nor needed to)

The whole "marriage is a partnership" thing is supposed to bring a sharing of the household chores under most circumstances, but if one partner doesn't work (outside the house) then he or she should do the bulk of the household chores while the other partner earns the money for the household....seems pretty simple to me, but so many people don't get it, and fights break out over the stupidest of things.

BoomerD, "No "Yes, Dears" at this gal's house. I am not the boss of this house. I like sharing that role, that way the kids don't think I am the only bozo here.

Bulk, not all. I would agree to that.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

When I was working construction and working only 5 days per week locally, I did the laundry and took care of the lawn and such. When I went back to working in the SF Bay area, then I was usually working 10-12 hours per day and driving 100 miles each way, which in that commute, means a 4-5 hour daily commute on top of the work day. IF I only worked 5 days per week, then I still took care of the lawn, but she took over laundry duty, and when I started working 6 or more days per week, as was fairly normal, we'd hire a gardener to take care of the outside stuff. Otherwise, it started looking like a jungle out there, and my neighbors complained...
My NORMAL work day was something like this:
0230-get up and make coffee
0330-leave for work
0600-start my work shift
1730-get off work
2000-get home
2100 into bed

By thursday, I'd pass myself on the freeway going the opposite direction.

With hours like that, I didn't have much time to do household chores...
