Yeah it is scary. I distanced myself from that one.
My best friend from highschool was always pregnant because she liked the attention she got. When the kids were born she would get depressed and get pregnant as soon as possible. When I was pregnant with the last one, she quickly distanced herself from me after I freaked out with the mass found on the ultrasound. That mass would get me more attention than her. Sure. More attention...I live 1300 miles away from my nearest relative and true friends. Stupid. We don't talk anymore.

Actually, Olivia slept from 11 to 6 last night and the night before. My body wakes up about 5-10 minutes before she does and it's still waking up for the 3 am feedings so I'm finding it difficult to go back to sleep. I'm not having a problem with that, the problem is with my husband.

That's pretty good!! Erin slept pretty well right off as well. She did get up for feedings but she'd go for 6 hours at a stretch. The PITA was I had to pump... took up a lot of time.

No, he's not keeping me up. I think I get "over stimulated" because I have a kid on me the majority of the day and when I go to bed, I just don't want to be snuggled or touched. He's a snuggler and he thinks it's an attack on him. The thing that's really pissing me off is that the longer we live here, the more of a hick he becomes. I was watching CNN this morning and they were talking about protests of the Olympics. He didn't know why they were protesting so I told him. Do you know what he said? He said that he doesn't really care what happens in foreign countries because it doesn't have any affect on us...that we don't have any right to interfere. His grandmother's family hid Jewish people in Germany during WWII so I asked him if he thought it was right for the US to get involved in WWII? He said yes. So I asked him if he thought the US should get involved in Darfur. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. So, I breiefly told him about the genocide taking place in Darfur. Then I told him about Tibet, China's views and history on human rights. He just made that "I know I'd better shut up now" face and left for work. His political views are so just nationalistic. I had a flashback of when I broke up with my boyfriend just before Tommy. He was yelling at the news and I started yelling at him...we broke up 5 mintues later. I just don't understand how people can not care about how others are treated. It doesn't matter where you live or if you're an American citizen. We're all citizens of the human race, and as our fellow citizens, it's our responsibility to defend those who can't defend themselves. Oh...my best friend just graduated with an anthropology degree. She wants to work at the UN so she's going to volunteer overseas with the Peace Corps to get first hand knowledge and experience in foreign countries...he said that was stupid. Not only working at the UN but being in the Peace Corps.

For the first month, she woke up every hour and a half...then it went to 2 hours then 3. Now, all of a sudden, it's all night....*insert here rays of light from heaven and angels singing*

I remember at various times my mother telling me that women mature faster than men, and at different times in our lives. Especially after a baby. Could just be that.

It isn't just hicksville, it's all over. But I can see why you are a bit miffed. I have 2 degrees in history and minored in political science and geography. It is hard not to make connections. I might not be the most humanitarian person, but I usually have a good idea why things might be occuring and what might need to idealistically be done. That is great about your UN ambitious pal. She'll get plenty of life experience in Peace Corps. I had a friend do that to pay off her college tuition. She says it's worth it, but that it can be extremely depressing. I always thought it was more important to be OF the world versus IN the world.

It is normal for a woman after having a baby not to want to be touched by her husband. Sometimes we just gotta suck it up and let them get what they want so they will leave you alone. They do not understand why you don't love them anymore. DUH!!! Intimacy does not = love for women but it does for a man. It's all part of being a mom. Welcome to motherhood. Hang in there and take a deep breath it gets easier.

Mothergoose made a good point.
What would also be great is if our spouses realized that we might be more "in the mood" if we didn't have to assume the role of #1 parent all day. It would be great if they automatically jumped in there and took over leaving us time to nap, veg out, go shopping, read a book, etc etc etc. I wouldn't be so tired and cranky at the end of the day!

Thanks, ladies. I think it's been a pattern of me going through a "maturing spasm" and leaving Tommy in the dust. It usually takes about a year for him to catch up then we're good for a few more years. We were together 6 years before we got married. Our first wedding anniversary is next month....

I just turned to look at Olivia who's playing under her little jungle gym and SHE ROLLED OVER!!!!
