Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I just had a little girl and, if my hubby helped out more, I'd already be ready for number 2. I really love that I have a little girl and hope for another but Tommy really wants a boy. I think he's feeling out numbered. (it's me, Olivia and 3 female cats. his only solice is in our 1 male cat.)

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I have seen pics of her on here and she is adorable. She is still little and not talking back just yet. The fun has only begun. I am out numbered here by the boys so I make sure all of my fish are girls. They are good listeners too. You could just make all of your fish boys and even things up for him.

Thanks...she rocks! But she does talk back...it just doesn't sound like words yet.

This is true! I'll have to surprise him with some males so he'll feel better.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I have two sons and one daughter... all growed up already! I remember too well those exhausted days when they were little. We had a running balance at the ped's office. Once, when all three were sick in a week, but it was three separate visits, the doc waived charges for the third one.

My sons were way easier than my daughter, but now that she's 22 we are very, very close. I did something right along the way! Girls are more complex than boys :::I didn't SAY smarter::: and in my kids' case at least, she was not as willing to "go with the flow".

I have one grown up who is 20 and another trying to get there at the ripe old age of 8. yep "SURPRISE" !! Both boys are the light of my life and I'm not so sure we could have handled a girl.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

My mother-in-law had 2 boys and she's SO excited to have a granddaughter. Tommy was scared to death when she was born because he has no idea what to do with a girl.

He was so scared he was gonna drop her.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

oh yeah I remember that. Erin was 6 weeks early, 4 lbs 4 oz (after that weight loss thing) and we were both terrified to hold her!!

... although I was AMAZED at the amount of poo she could produce that little.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

LOL! We're still amazed. She doesn't just discretely poop...It always sounds like she's blown out her diaper. It's scary taking her out in public because of it. She weighed 7lbs 5oz when she was born but, even though I've never been around babies before, it was always comfortable for me to hold her. I was never scared. Tommy's just now getting truly comfortable.

My sons are twins, and they were six weeks early, too. Bryan was 4lbs 12oz when he came home, and Christopher was 5lbs 4ozs. Very tiny and scary! Didn't have their eyebrows or lashes yet either...and their little ribs stuck out. They seemed very fragile!

They were eating every 1-1/2hrs, and by the time I was finished nursing them it was just about time to start all over again. Their sucking reflex was underdeveloped and it took them FOREVER to eat.

We kept all our lights on 24/7 because things didn't seem so bad if the lights were on! LOL We were exhausted. I had a cesarian, so John had to help.. he would do their diapers then bring them to me to nurse..he'd do their diapers again and put them down. I think we were going through around 240 (cloth!) diapers a week. There were no disposable diapers back in 1981!

Ah, the good ole days!

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

WOW that's a lot of diapers. I remember mom having a diaper service for my sister and in teh beginning for my brother... for those times that the dog didn't get into them and eat it!! (blech)

Mine never learned to nurse properly. I pumped for about 5 months (about 3 of those I provided breast milk only for her, no formula supplementation) and at the end there I was getting mastitis and engorgement pretty regularly. At 5'1 with a DD/DDD normally that was NOT pleasant.

Re: OT: Women of RS Thread

I am pretty fortunate. I discovered that you can buy 210 diapers for $40 at Sam's so we got a card pretty quickly. Olivia latched on less than 30 min after she was born and she nurses really well. The only downfall is that I went from a 34-A to a 34-DD with no end in sight. I actually think they're getting bigger. I didn't have to have a c-section but I was induced because of PIH escalating into preeclampsia. The labor was 21 hours long and 12 of it was natural. She was out in less that 10 minutes and the doc said that it was the easiest delivery she's ever had.
