Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

yeah, I know it sucks, but you'd see that imperfection even if it was darn near gone -- you'd just know about it and it'd drive you nuts.

and Boomer made a good point about the lensing thing... especially in that nice glass.

Go get one of those wall framed "fish pictures" adn stare at that for a month.

Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

I manufacture parts and every once in awhile some things are received broken. I always recommend a new part. If it's damaged in shipping it should be covered as long as it was insured. I file the claim and get them a new part. It sucks waiting but I don't want people out there bummed that they aren't completely satisfied.

Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

If it is an inch from the bottom and you are going with a deep sand bed you might consider the discount (provided it is a substantial one). The repaired scratch against the sand bed won't be very noticable because you won't have light reflecting against it.

Italy! Dang man getting the fancy stuff. lol

I'd take a macro shot of it and get an estimate from a glass repair place and ask them how invisible it will be after the repairs or if it will be invisible.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

I too would suggest replacing it. If they do send you the replacement what are they going to do with this tank? Perhaps you can bargin with them to keep this one to use as a QT or sump or something along those lines?

Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

hmm.. it depends.. if you could cover the scratch with a DSB or put it on the back facing the wall (if you have it against a wall) so you cant see it, take a cash amount, but see if you can pull off an extra 10% off of what they offer, but settle with 5%

if there is no way you can "hide" it, make em send you a new tank and see if you can get a discount

Re: OT: I'm heartbroken

Well, as much as we all want discounts on stuff for our inconveniences and such, the manufacturing world doesn't always seem to care what are feelings are. Especially if they are making good on there products. And there not legally obliged to be that way either.
Booze, your in retail and know the deal. Kindly ask them for a better deal and if not just suck it up and get a new tank. I would even after that, go so far as to ask for a speedy delivery at least. See what you can do. I wish you luck buddy.
