| Social Darwinism victim | OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... So my abdominal ultrasound results came back. I have MULTIPLE gallstones, what the doc described as "gook" in my gall bladder and fatty desposits in my liver. I drink alcohol all of twice a year. (Yeah, I'm like this normally.) My parents were both alcoholics for a good long time, and who gets liver disease? ME! Now I know I should eat better and I could definitely lose a pound or fifty off my fat a$$. But WTF? I exercise at least 3 times a week, I'm actually in OK shape given the weight, I can run at a fair pace for my short legs for at least 30 to 40 minutes, have been eating a little better, handling stress better, had breast reduction surgery not the least of several reasons is mom and aunt both have osteoporosis and because I can now stand up straight, cut out dessert, and all that happy crap. I have an appt with a surgeon, I have no problem getting the gallbladder out, I should be on a low fat diet anyway, but what's with the liver? Je&%& f*&%#in &^%$$# and ^% &#%$#@Y and %%^&_*&%!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Golden Moray | Re: OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... Here is the quick and dirty of it. The spleen, liver and kidneys are the body's primary filter organs. Blood (with everything it contains) pass through the spleen and liver. Fatty deposits are removed by the liver and processed for elimination. When the dietary intake exceeds the ability of the liver to remove it all, it becomes stored for later processing. It's a bit different than alcohol processing which breaks down liver tissue. Talk with your doctor about diet and medication. What, a chiropractor telling you you may need medicine. This one believes that you have to do what you have to do to take care of yourself. Would adjustments help? Maybe. Is medication indicated? Possibly. You may want to look on WebMD. There is a lot of good information there.

| The CodFather ~ | Re: OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... Kathy, you need to modify your diet to contain less fat. As dr. hank said, what your body cannot use it will store. I had a similar experience a few years ago. At the time all I was eating was fast food(high fat), when one day I got very ill with severe abdominal pain and a high fever. I went to the emergency room thinking I had food poisoning but instead was told that my gall bladder was so inflammed it needed to be removed asap. Don't worry about the removal of the gall bladder it is a simple operation leaving just three very small scars. From then on, you will suffer from some gastric discomfort if you eat a meal high in fat. So, in a way, this may force you to eat in a more healthy way (I sure miss having a big porterhouse steak now and then )if you have any concerns/questions about the procedure shoot me a pm.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... Thanks guys. I can't afford a shrink, this is better anyway!! : ) OMG I had an attack a week ago, when all this started. Holy Mother of God, we were talking a serious contender for childbirth pain. Let me tell you. DON'T DRINK to excess and eat right. It's pain in the upper abdominal region, right below the rib cage, and you just want to poke a skewer in your gut to let out the pressure. Advice for anyone ending up in the ER with this: tell them you don't handle morphine well (makes me puke every 2 hours. you could set a watch.). I got this stuff for the pain that was FABULOUS. I have to look it up. The horizontal control was off, but I felt so much better.

| Over Achiever | Re: OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... Kathy, every American, over the age of 30, has fatty liver to some degree or the other. Anytime one gets a MRI or Ultrasound the de facto diagnosis is fatty liver! Fatty liver and cirosis are two different things, so don't confuse the two. I had a friend that suffered from gall bladder attacks for years. Then one day she had her gall bladder removed and she was a different person. I wouldn't worry about the fatty liver. What this is telling you, is to watch your intake of fat. Moderation and a good attitude is the secret to good health. Oh, and spinal adjustments! ![]() Last edited by Dentoid : 09-13-2007 at 10:44 AM. |

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: OT: I just wanna whine for a minute... My wife was having some MAJOR gall-bladder issues but she didn't have ALL the "right" symptoms to insist on a removal. We talked it over, got a 2nd opinion and decided to go for it just the same. She's so GLAD she did.. it totally resolved the problem and he only aftereffect is she has to watch what kind of overly spicey or greasy foods (runs right through her). Hang in there girl!!
