OT: Do you smoke?

But he said the reason they still prescribe the chantix, is that 30%.... which I hope to he!! I am one of. I always told myself I would quit when I started to feel any effects from them. Well, the every morning caugh has started. so its time. I have smoked since I was 16.. so 13 years I have been hooked on, and at the same time enjoyed them. But its time to quit. I plan on being smoke free very soon! and I picked a day I would remember.. so in a few years, I will be able to say "I quit XX years ago, and never looked back". Wish me luck!

I'm a cancer survivor. 3 years.
I asked my oncologist what caused my cancer... he said that they don't know what triggers it. My smoking?... We don't know. My diet? Cheeseburgers and Pizza... We don't know. He said it's just that I carry the trait and something triggered it.

Everything I've read on smoking leaves no doubt that it causes cancer so I wouldn't say it's baloney, I think that cioutlaw is right on the ball

Why must smokers with the today's level of knowledge still deceive themselves? Should everybody smoke quietly so much as he would want not to argue against it. What I does not understand is, the academically proved facts from the whole world, over and over again ignores or are negated .... I simply do not understand.

This was my last remark on this thread, nevertheless, should smoke everybody if he wanted this, it is bad only if third persons are involved and without having smoked fall ill themselves with cancer.

I hope I could show my opinion on this subject fairly understandably with my troubled English.

Amber Bock for me! Ah heck, who am I kidding? I'm a sailor, I'll drink just about anything. As long as you don't mind me being upwind of you when I drink it, I won't heckle you about smoking.

If you haven't seen it already I recommend watching "The Inside Man" with Pacino and Russell Crowe, it's an excellent movie and really explains how they manipulate the chemicals so you can stay hooked

I smoked my first cig when I was 11. I look back and think "Where was my mother??" I smoked until I got pregnant with my daughter and quit cold turkey. My husband still smokes, but never in the house or around the baby. He wants to quit, made it 23 hours last time. He likes to drink beer too though, so that doesn't help the smoking one bit. I will take a puff every once in a while if I'm drinking. Other than that I really have no interest, the smell actually grosses me out now.

I'm in the process of quiting. I quit before me and my husband had our two kids and then in between pregnancies started agian and now I'm quitting again but it looks like if I want to do it I'm going to have to go cold turkey and I'm really bad when I do it like that.
