OT: Do you smoke? - Page 2

In a few months, my workplace is banning smoking in and within 100' away from the buildings. We currently have smoking areas outside. I don't know what all the smokers will do... I guess they'll take a long walk to puff....

well cheeks 69..u shouldnt be judged at all.u cant make a statement about someone without getting to know them. u know the old sayin u cant judge a book by its cover.the first step to hate,racism,and prejudice.is judgement.the only person able to judge is jesus.and he aint gonna keep someone out of heaven for smokeing.i understand.i mean i smoke and live with a house full of non_smokers.i go outside and never in my house.i make sure im never around a non_smoker while smokeing.and u should never make judgment on someone for smokeing...even if their not as kind as I....this is my opinion

I was up to 3+ packs per day. Had been taken to the ER 3 times with chest pains had pneumonia twice (hospitalized once) and quit COLD TURKEY in 1985. I'm a smokers worst nightmare, a reformed smoker!

I agree you shouldn't make judgments without getting to know someone or the facts but once you know them you can make judgements can't you ?

We're getting way off topic, this isn't a question of wether your going to go to heaven or not but how do you feel about smoking and my feeling is I hate smoking but I don't hate the smoker, know what I mean ?

I don't smoke, but I've made a point to take a break at work every time the smokers do. Freaking ridiculous how much work they scam out of by going to the "designated smoke area."

I have nothing against smokers except the fact they make OUR insurance go up because of health reasons they caused themselves. I guess the same could be said about fried food eaters too. We had a city smoking ban inplace for every public restaraunt & bar but it was reversed 6mo. later, it was great to go anywhere I wanted & not have your eyes burn or go home stinking like smoke. I know its addictive & I have never smoked so I dont understand but I am happy people are being taxed to death so they quit & I hope someday it is not leagle along with alcohol.

reefman, you forgot to capitalize Jesus. I have to agree with all of you and your points btw. I personally don't judge others about smoking or not smoking. It's a nastie habit i wish i never started. I never smoke in the home or around my child out of fear she will smoke one day. I am hoping this chantex works long term and will help me quit one day. It is hard to quit i have tried. I don't judge others but i do feel sorry for them suffering from this habit.

I'm a cancer survivor. 3 years.
I asked my oncologist what caused my cancer... he said that they don't know what triggers it. My smoking?... We don't know. My diet? Cheeseburgers and Pizza... We don't know. He said it's just that I carry the trait and something triggered it.

So you think smoking has no effect on peoples health? Im not saying every person who smokes has health related problems but I would hate to see what smoking costs insurance companies(which gets passed along to EVERYONE).

Having an Oncolgist tell you that "We" don't know... kinda makes you wonder.
I took his "We" as him and other Oncolgists.

My grandmother... God Rest Her Soul... had Emphysema. Never smoked a day in her life.

I just don't think we have all the facts about everything.

Here's a stumper...
How come insurance companies will pay for cancer treatments, supposedly caused by cigarettes, but they won't pay to help anyone quit smoking?
Well... my insurance won't help pay for it anyhow.
