OT: NC Vacation!!! I love it up there!!

Hey that's where I am right now.. I live IN the Beautiful Mountains of Western NC! I spend a LOT of time during the warmer months in the areas you have pictured and have pictures of them from the air (I'm a pilot).

Where did yall stay? Did you get down into more Western NC (Maggie Valley, Asheville, Waynesville, Sylva)?

I have been going up there since i was born, My grandmother and family has a cabin in Jonas Ridge(in between hwy 181 and 183) 5 minutes from linville....I do it every year, and its just better and better every year for me...never gets boring....I also lived up there for about a year(3 years ago now.) We normally stay up in the north though, Boone, Linville, Valle Crucis...areas

Ahhh... the lovely mountains of NC! I've been up there many, many times! That bridge is fricken scary!!!!!

Its not soooo scary, my mom wont even go near it....not even up the steps....its funny, her knees get all weak, she about pees in her pants

It is a GREAT place... do you happen to remember driving through a place called Newland, NC? That small town was settled by a distant relative to me (My last name is Newland). His brother founded Appalachian Teacher's School which is now called App State University. You can see his portrait on the main entrance to Newland Hall.

How's that for a History lesson

newland is only 20 minutes, and yes I know that town, and I know the school App state is in boone on 321/421....thats crazy that a relative of yours founded it....!!small town, do you know of "mountain jewlers" in newland, its my aunts(married to my real uncle) sisters shop....

OmG that is truely breath taking. I go to NC every year but never been on that side-I rent a house from my Aunt on Topsail Island. It is so nice in NC always wanted to live there....

But I have only hear of the Mt. and great they were, Your pics have deffently made me want to really go there for myself cause I know the Pics do no justice at all.

Daniel I've not heard of it but then again I've only been TO the town twice in My life.... most of my living relatives (on that side of the family) are now in the Charlotte area.

Cousins? Oh I wouldn't put THAT off on him!!

I enjoy getting down to the OTHER end of the state when I can. I love hitting "Outer Banks" every year or so but it's the Mountains that I call home and can't ever seem to leave behind. I am truly blessed to get a breathtaking mountain view each and every morning when I wake up.

I agree, I haven't left NC yet I'm more of a camp on the beach kinda person, only because of the surfing and fishing. But the mountains are such a relaxing place to go. I took Hwy 64 from Hendersonville back to Charlotte a few weeks ago, it took an extra 2 hours, but it was worth it because of the scenery. I gotta head back once the apples start filling the stands
