OT: Just a Heads Up, Leaving town for a bit! Off to Poland!

Hey guys!,

I just wanted everyone to be aware that I'll be off on another trip again! last time I forgot to mention anything and you all probably assumed I fell off the earth! anyhow, this time 'round i'm giving you all a heads up and just wanted to give a slightly early farewell! I'll be visiting my mom's side of the family in Poland from May 19th to June 7th, so I'll not be around for a while. I've recruited my dad to provide food for my reef... although I haven't given him his crash course yet... little scared on how that could go, but I'm sure things will be okay. If anyone has any tips for vacations it would be appreciated! I'm thinking of shortening my lighting period for a couple hours so as not to encourage any algae blooms while i'm gone, as well as tossin a bag of phos-x in the filter to aid that cause.

At any rate, I'll be be sure to take a ton of pictures, and share them with everyone here! I know one of my cousins has a pretty nice freshie setup so I'll grab some pics of that too! Thanks Everyone!

I'll take a lot of pictures for sure... I just picked up another 2GB sd card for my camera, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to share! Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! Tomorrow is the day! I've given my dad the know how for feeding, and i've left him 10 gallons of distilled water to top off the tank occasionally... Anything else I may be forgetting? I've shortened the lighting period by about an hour or so and i can't think of much else i can do! I'm going to change out the carbon floss filters and empty the skimmer tomorrow morning... anything else guys?? I'm getting nervous! I don't want to lose anything while i'm away... especially my new ricordea! Which I've noticed in my avatar i'm now a ricordea...

Man, it stinks... I'm paranoid that something is going to go wrong. I told my dad, "Listen, you make me pay the electricity costs to run this reef tank, so you owe it to me to do this right while i'm gone." I'd be so upset if something got messed up. I wish i could set up a webcam that i could always connect to hehe

Well this may be my last log on, I'll check once more before i leave but likely wont be posting anything, so Farewell! Heres to hoping that everything in my tank is alive when i return! heh.. Stay tuned for pictures!

Hey everyone!

I'm back home safely, and am finally getting some time to sit down in front of my computer again! My trip was fantastic! between my brother and I, we took nearly 1100 pictures, and quite a bit of video, so as soon as I have some time to sort through all of the photos and videos, I'll be posting some things up here! As for my tank, everything was alright, except my recently acquired riccordea... only one of them is still visible, but doesn't open fully now, the two tiny baby ones are still visible, but they appear to be bleached out.. and are almost entirely white. the other two larger polyps (dime sized) are completely gone. I don't know if they've moved or if they died, I simply don't know. I can't seem to see them anywhere, but the one dime sized poly that still is visible is in its same spot, and its colors are still there, it just seems a bit shy. so I find it hard to believe that they died, but they why would the little guys be bleached out? ahh.. frustrating, as those were my new favorite... also I have a couple other things growing on that ric rock I bought, that I have no idea of what they are. It's quite hard to describe, so I'll wait till I can take a picture, and likely start a new thread about it, posting a link in here once I do. Anyhow, Flight was long but I'm on the ground again, and I'll have pictures to share with you all in a day or two!
