OT: Busy with new baby Goffin

Haven't been on much lately as I have been busy with my new baby goffin 'Mica'. I don't really know if she is a female, but if not than Micah will also work. She is a sweethart. Wants to either snuggle and make soft noises like a meowing cat, play on her gym, chatter for hours or eat. She is 3 months, weighs 234gms (won't get much bigger, thank the Lord), is very active during the day, starts hollaring when I come home from work and is generally a good bird all around.
I had lost my African Gray the 1st part of April, and though I ran adds in every local classifieds, hung fliers all over and asked evryone in the nieghborhood to look for her she never turned up.
The Goffin was a gift as a replacement though I couldn't accept her at such a price so I went ahead and paid for her. Wasn't much in the way of rejecting the funds I noticed.lol.

Very nice Goffin! What size tank do you keep her in? They need a lot of swimming room you know!
I sure hope your Grey gets found. Sorry for the loss.

Beautiful bird. They require a lot of attention. Far more people birds than most greys as long as you socialize them young. I've always wanted one but just work to much to keep one the way they deserve.
She looks spoiled already.

I've allways wanted one, I used to raise cockatoos for years and still think that they are psychic...

Glad to hear you made aresponsible choise. I have a pink moluccan, umbralla and scarlet headed amazon and they do need lots of attention and toys. I built a flight aviary against the back of the house 25'x12'x7' and this help releive alot of tension for them. Unfortunatly the pink has a beak that can chew through metal and this is how the gray got out. She had worked a hole in the wire over a weeks time that I didn't see and the day the gray got out the wind was blowing a steady 25mph. I love the pink, but she is a pain in the a** no joke. Couldn't ever give her up though. But the goffin is my all around PC, TV and reef watching buddy since she is small. And won't split my ear drum open sitting on my shoulder like the pink.lol. Eh? What?

LMAO. I have to agree, but I think all the tropicals are. Or at least they make you think they are.

Re: Busy with new baby Goffin

Hi!

Sorry for your' loss of the African Gray, they're lovely intelligent birds. I hope that she'll turn up somewhere for you!
What a lovely baby Goffins! Mica is apt to become a favorite. Our Goffins, Toby, adopted us years ago at the pet shop. He'd been kept for showing, and lost a toe when he flew onto another birds cage (a habit that we haven't been able to break him of). The owners took him to the pet shop and traded him for a 20 gallon freshwater set-up because they couldn't show him with a missing toe (Heartless Creeps!). I paid the shop for the 20 Gal. and brought him home to live with us. He is definitely the leader of our flock (Sadie, Female Eclectus, Sugar and Chester, Cockatiels, and Lovey and Junior, Finches), and instructs us when it's time for us to eat, (and make toasted bread for the birds) and when it's bed time for the rest of the flock. He's very intelligent, but has never learned to "Talk", not that it matters, as he is quite vocal and can voice his "commands" quite well in "'Too".
Congratulations on the new "Family/Flock member".
Regards,
Dean

Re: Busy with new baby Goffin

I noticed a long time ago that lots of fish people have birds or bird people have fish whichever way you want to look at it. Not sure what the connection is.

Re: OT: Busy with new baby Goffin

Also getting a baby african gray as a gift to replace the lost one. Can't turn it down as it is already paid for and the money can't be returned. Will be getting it later this week. If I had known this is what happens when you loose a pet...hey, wait a minute...hey all, I just lost all my ricordias. I left the top open and they escaped. I am all broken harted. Boo hoo.
